Almost 10 years have passed since Neil’s death. I recently had a dream about him and, as a result, was moved to read his obituary. Such lovely words. They brought me to tears. I had such a crush on Neil back in the day (which girl didn’t 😉). He was charming, popular and friendly. Rest in peace - Posted by: Christine Peers (School friends) on: Aug 30, 2023

The Siddorns and the Cormacks have been friends for a long time, I know they were a very tight bunch and we feel bad for the entire family. Neil was a funny guy, and I think he would be happy to know that seeing all of your tributes, and all the names I haven't heard for so long, has brought a smile to my face. Thanks Neil, rest in peace. - Posted by: Carey Siddorn (family friend) on: Jan 25, 2014

Our friend the "Wood" Brian McCarthy texted me on Sunday to tell me of Neil's passing. I have not seen Neil in years, but needless to say I was shocked, you never like to hear about a person so young passing, especically someone who was so fun loving. Neil and I used to play hockey back in the day and I played football with his brother Ron. I too had been to Cormack cottage as we had one at Westhawk. Always good times at the lake! Neil your life was too short, but may your eternity be filled with fun and good fishing! - Posted by: Geordie Wilson (Friend) on: Jan 21, 2014

I have great memories of my uncle Neil. He was always so funny, he made everyone laugh! I remember he was the only one who enjoyed to watch the Simpsons with me. He was a great uncle to me and my sister. He was caring and was always so nice! I'm going to miss seeing him and having fires in the back yard. I will miss the dinners and breakfasts my family and uncle went to together. This one day our waitress asked uncle Neil if he wanted a lollipop. She thought uncle was my parents child! It was very funny! He was young but I know he's happy. I remember driving in his car listening to the song Santa Monica. We both sang along to it. I love him and will always miss him. - Posted by: Sam Martin (Niece ) on: Jan 20, 2014

I am truly sorry to hear of Neil's passing. My heartfelt condolences to the Cormack family. My memories of Neil, albeit from many years ago at Hastings School, were of a smart, witty and kind person who engaged everyone around him, making all of us feel comfortable, in the "kid" skin we then wore. Time passes so quickly and I'm sure in Neil's adult life, his special qualities still shined. God Bless. - Posted by: Lori Dudych (school friend) on: Jan 19, 2014

My best friend, and my uncle. No girl could be luckier. If it wasn't the many laughs and smiles he brought my family and I, it was so many amazing moments and memories. I could not of asked for a better uncle. Thank you for being my father's best friend, my mother's best friend, and the greatest, coolest uncle my sisters and I have ever had. You are truly missed, our last summer day spent together will always be in my heart. Rest in peace uncle, we love you so much. Xo thank you for teaching me to always smile, and when I need a good laugh to watch the Simpsons. Xoxo - Posted by: Bree Martin (Niece) on: Jan 19, 2014

Such sad news. Neil and I were close from the time we were young kids, through school and into adulthood. He stood as an usher at my wedding. Unfortunately we lost touch in the late 90's. I was lucky enough to reconnect briefly with Neil in December and we were planning on getting together after New Years. Some of my favourite times with Neil were when we were working out at his home gym and the hours we spent afterwards just talking, and usually laughing. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Cormack family. I am so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Gord Spado (friend) on: Jan 19, 2014

Neil was one of the friendliest people I've known. It's been many years since our grade school days but childhood friendships help build the foundations of who we grow into. Neil was quick with smiles and laughter. I can tell by reading previous tributes he continued to touch others with that warmth into adulthood. RIP - Posted by: Shannon Crowards (nee Crowe) (friend) on: Jan 19, 2014

It was very upsetting to hear of Neil's passing. Although Neil and I went to high school together it really wasn't until working together at both the Canoe Club and the Westin that we spent time together. Although only close for a few years we spent many fun times together. I was fortunate enough to share some time with him at the cottage on Star Lake fishing for bass and sharing some laughs and good times with common friends. Neil could always make me laugh, my condolences go out to Neil's family who I know meant the world to him. Neil will be missed. - Posted by: Dennis Alvestad (Friend) on: Jan 19, 2014

It's with much sadness I read about Neil's passing. Through high school Neil and I became great friends especially after the death of my Dad. Neil was there when a friend was needed. Neil and I spent many days fishing together. It was Neil that taught me how to fish for bass at Star Lake where his family owned a cottage. Neil was in his element on Star Lake, in the morning when the lake was like glass ("perfect for shore casting for bass he'd say"). Unfortunately since leaving Winnipeg 23 years ago I lost contact with Neil, however he was always in my thoughts. Neil's heaven would be limitless hours of bass fishing on Star Lake casting a Hula Popper or Jitterbug, landing it inches from the shore and having a big smallmouth bass break the calmness of the water! Neil, you were a great friend and you will always be remembered. Your friend Cam. - Posted by: Cam Wilson (Friend) on: Jan 18, 2014

Neil sold my daughter her very first car and, a year or so later, prepared our new car for pick up. He treated us with the highest degree of professionalism and respect. He was obviously a man of integrity with a genuinely human touch. Every time I visited the dealership I dropped by his desk for a talk. He was always glad to see me and we had some good talks. I will miss seeing him and wish his loved ones strength and peace in this time of loss. - Posted by: Rev. Colin Peterson (customer) on: Jan 18, 2014
