Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • To Keri-Linn, Lisa and Marlene I often think of you all from time to time and today was one of those days. As I was thinking of you guys and Bernie (who I playfully referred to as Ben 34 years ago) I found this obituary. Keri, your Mother and Father were very dear to me in the short time we were together. Your parents immediately made me feel like I was part of the family. In my first meeting with your parents was when I came to your place for the first time to pick you up as we were going to a movie together. They were in the kitchen and after an exchange of "nice to meet you" and a firm handshake for your father, we had one or 2 minutes of small talk and introductions. You left me in the kitchen and were searching room to room for your coat when finally your mom asked you "What are you looking for?" and you said "my leather coat", and she replied "it's hanging up" and the first thing that came out of my mouth was "no wonder you can't find it...". It seamed to tickle your parents because I got a belly laugh from both of them and your Mom and Dad said "I like THIS guy". Your Dad was the first adult who treated me like an adult. He would have happily engaged in conversations with me about business and personal matters that I will never forget. He and I would play pool in your basement for hours at a time and he and I would engage in conversations of just about anything you could imagine. Those lessons helped me earn a reputation for being a very good pool player and build a financially secure future in my own businesses. He was a fun guy to be around and I honestly loved hearing his stories about hockey and the good and bad things that molded him as person. Sadly he will never know that his advice, parts of his personality and his readiness to treat me as a friend has helped shape me both as a business man and Father. I will think of him with warm and fond memories and continue to keep his spirit alive by continuing to remember him. Godspeed Ben, thank you for being my friend. - Posted by: Dwayne Deneka (Old Friend) on: Aug 09, 2015

  • Keri, we have known each other for longer than I can remember. My heart breaks for you and the rest of your family. There are no words for loosing a parent, this I know. Love you lots, just think my Mom has met your Dad up there and is showing him the ropes. - Posted by: Brandy Wruck (Friend) on: Jan 20, 2014
