Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNANCY ELLEN CARTER (nee PEEVER) It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Nancy Carter on January 16, 2014, at the age of 59. Nancy is survived by her husband Ralph, her son Colin Carter and her daughter Crystal Drzewiec (Damian), step-granddaughter Shaelyn, grandson Treyson, as well as her mother, Mrs. Helen Peever. She was predeceased by her father Victor in 1989 and her mother-in-law, Rena Carter in 2003. She will also be deeply missed by her sisters Diane (Len) Anderson, Linda (Wally) Beer, Lorie (Kerry) Welk, and her brother Brian (Linda) Peever as well as all of her beloved nieces and nephews. In addition, Nancy will be missed by close friends, Darlene, Marlene and Bette. Nancy was born on December 27, 1954, the fourth child of Vic and Helen Peever and was soon recognized as the spirited member of the family that she was all of her much too short life. Her infectious smile and twinkle in her eyes endeared her to everyone. Nancy grew up in the family home in Fort Rouge on Hector Avenue, and following elementary school, attended high school at Kelvin and Tec Voc. During that time, she was often the family babysitter for many of her nieces and nephews who all looked forward to spending time with Nancy. Her work life included several years at the Royal Bank and as a Real Estate representative with Royal LePage. She brought a high level of energy and enthusiasm to every aspect of both her working life and all her other endeavours, whether it was stained glass, gardening or her charity work. Nancy and Ralph travelled extensively, enjoying many memorable trips with friends and family. Most recently they enjoyed numerous weeks a year in Phoenix. Nancy was a very special person who loved her family and the many family social events which she often hosted or organized. She delighted in seeing all of her nieces and nephews and particularly the new babies as they came along. Of course, the arrival of her grandson Treyson in March, 2013, a brother for big sister Shaelyn, was an unparalleled event in her life. Nancy loved being a Grandmother. Nancy also loved animals and could be seen without fail, walking her dog(s) with Darlene at the Assiniboine Park, and with any other dogs that she would offer to look after for family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the SICU team of doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre for their kindness and compassionate care of Nancy. Special thanks to Brian for your friendship and guidance during a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to honour her love for these wonderful animals and help keep a Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) dog safe. Donations can be made to: WPS K9 Unit Vest Fund, (In memory of Nancy Carter), c/o Finance Department, P.O. Box 1680, Winnipeg, MB R3X 2X7. Cropo Funeral Chapel, 204-586-8044

Ralph & family, pls accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear Nancy. Sometimes words are not enough, but we hope during this sad time that you are able to hold onto your memories and let them guide you. Through your journey there will be hugs & tears. there will be people who don't know what to say and somehow, some still make you laugh. There will be photos & keepsakes, memories & stories. Some you've never heard & some you could never hear enough. There will be sorrow & celebration but the most important thing is there will be love... the kind that NEVER ends.
