GUY J. J. LUSSIER November 7, 1956 - January 17, 2014 It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Guy Lussier on January 17, 2014 at the Selkirk Hospital after a brief battle with brain cancer. Guy leaves behind his loving wife Wendy, his pride and joy, our three children - Cory, Tyler and Janelle. He is survived by his mom (Agnes), siblings: Don, Rene (Marguerite), Noella (Fern), Rick (Dianne), Bernie (Nancy); in-laws Doug and Nelda Wilkinson, Terry (Cindy), Twylla (Bruce), Teresa (David), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Roland, maternal and paternal grandparents. Guy and I met in 1982 through a mutual friend (thank you Dennis). We were married on July 21, 1984. We were fortunate to be blessed with three children who were the joys of our lives. Guy was so proud of our children and all he ever asked for on his Christmas wish list was for our kids to be good. After numerous jobs, Guy decided to return to school in 1992. After graduation from the C&I Sales Program at Red River College (RRC) in 1993, he was offered a position with the RRC Students' Association. His job evolved as such that he attained the title of Advertising Director. It was a job he loved and took great pride in. His proudest achievement was the annual Career Fair. We were fortunate to be able to take numerous trips: Disney World, Hawaii, a Caribbean cruise, the Black Hills plus numerous trips within Canada. We also enjoyed frequent relaxing trips to Bert and Pam's cottage at Big Whiteshell. How many evenings were spent staring up at the sky looking for ... stars? Guy always looked forward to his annual guys golf getaway which became known as the "Corker Cup". This annual event had just celebrated 28 years - partnering every year with his friend of 40 plus years, Dennis Musick. No one had a bigger smile on their face than Guy, whenever they were crowned champions over their worthy opponents. We would like to thank Dr. Zoppa, and the amazing nursing staff of the Selkirk Hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care Guy received during his stay. We would also like to thank our families, friends and co-workers for the love and support shown to us during this very difficult time. It has meant so much and will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Guy's life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Selkirk (6088 PTH 9A, just south of the Rolling Mills) at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In celebration of Guy's life and his vibrant personality, we ask those attending his service to feel free to wear bright colours. "Death leaves behind a heartache no one can heal, loves leaves a memory no one can steal." (from a headstone in Ireland) In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Selkirk and District Hospital Palliative Care or to CancerCare Manitoba in Guy's name. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
