Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMATTHEW DANIEL TRAVERSE With profound sadness we announce the tragic passing of our beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle nephew, cousin and friend, Matthew Daniel Traverse of Lake St. Martin First Nation, on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the age of 48 years. Matthew leaves to cherish his memory, his loving, beautiful wife Heather of 27 years; their children, Melissa (Cory), Daphne, Tamara, Deidra, Stefanie and Chance; his grandchildren, Tatiana and Lily; his loving mom, Betty Traverse; sisters, Charlotte (Carl), Audrey, Barbara and baby sister Jenny (Arlen); brothers, Gordon Jr. (Shirley) and Benny; adopted sisters, Iona Baptiste of Poplar River, Jolene Traverse (Kevin), Priscilla Stagg (Emery) and Effie Ross (Robert); adopted brothers, Edmund Jordan (Karen) of Saskatchewan, his hunting partners and best friends Russell Prince, Melford Catcheway (Maxine) of Portage La Prairie, MB and Walter. Wake Service will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at River East Mennonite Church, 755 McLeod Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Wake service will also be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Both of these services will be held at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, MB. Interment will follow at the Lake St. Martin Community Cemetery. Condolences to all, especially to Heather and Betty. May God grant strength and peace as you go through the days ahead. Memories of Matthew's wit and laughter are constantly in my head and I hope you are able to see them too. My son Daniel remembers when Matthew took him and Terry hunting around Brandon. So glad for those memories. God's love surrounds us all, let him hold you in his arms to lighten the burden. Matthew was an awesome man of God who people are saying they only remember him as a very happy man never looked mad always smiling and also good memories of hearing him shout and just praise the Lord in church even when he first walked in....there should be more people like u....gone home yet a another faithful servant can't hardly imagine how he's just having the best time and for his family who loved him so much don't weep too hard or be too sad - Posted by: Suzanne (family friend) on: Jan 23, 2014
