MARY VANDAL (nee KODAK) January 19, 1920 - January 22, 2014 It is with great sorrow that our beloved mother passed away after suffering from a stroke. She is predeceased by her husband Jules and her brothers Peter and Mark. She will be remembered and sadly missed by her loving children Rob (Jo), Eileen (Mel), Shirley (Lorne); grandchildren Kristyn (Patrick) Mark (Kristie), Heather (Ivan), Shayne, Stephanie, Rebecca and Lindsay; great-grandchildren Mayra, Blake, Evynn, Dutch and Maclayne along with so many nieces, nephews and their families. Mary enjoyed many years in the Middlechurch community by being involved with the curling club where she played on a weekly basis and travelled with her team to different areas in Manitoba for curling bonspiels. She was also a great bingo player. When Mary could no longer curl she joined a bowling league where she managed to accomplish several high scores and very seldom missed an evening. Mary loved her trips to shooting star and had the greatest time, plus she was very lucky at playing wheel of fortune. Living on her own for several years she made a move to a beautiful condo at "the Middlechurch on the Red" where she enjoyed several good years along with the many friends she made and especially her sisters-in- law who both moved into the same place and were a big part of her life. They looked after each other everyday and they were able to experience the delightful tastes of her delicious butter tarts and tea biscuits and it seemed that she supplied many others with them as well. Her time at Mori was memorable and she enjoyed the years while there. Unfortunately Mary had to be moved to the Middlechurch Home in September 2012 as she required much more care. She always had a big smile for everybody and was well liked by the nursing staff. The family would like to thank all the staff that looked after our mother and gave her the care that she needed. Funeral will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, Manitoba on Saturday, January 25 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3l 0K6.
