NICK SUCHARYNA It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father and Gigi, Nick Sucharyna, aged 92 years at Seven Oaks General Hospital on January 23, 2014. Nick was born in Basznia Hirna, Oblast Lviv, Western Ukraine on May 14, 1921. Nick was predeceased by his loving wife, Emilia (nee Jarema) on January 27, 2000. He is survived by his three sons: Mike (Natalie), Jerry (Cathy), John, grandchildren: Terry, Darlene, Tanya (Hakan), Tamara and great-grandson, Taylan, sister Anna and brother Michail in Ukraine. As was typical in the dark days of the Second World War, Nicholas and Emilia were taken from their village homes by the Nazis and sent to Germany. They were forced labourers on a Bavarian farm where they met. After liberation, they married while in a displacement camp. Nicholas and Emilia immigrated to Canada with their young son Michael, eventually settling in Winnipeg. Nick was a very skilled shoemaker by trade and soon found employment with Winnipeg Shoe manufacturers in particular, Greb Shoes for many years. He also worked at Bristol Aerospace his last nine years until retirement. Nicholas will be remembered as a dedicated family man and a kind helpful person. Special thanks to Maples Personal Care Home and Seven Oaks General Hospital 3rd floor, unit 6 for their care and compassion. Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. B. Lukie officiating. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Terry Sucharyna, Ihor Wenger, Bohdan Waplak, John Weretyk, Peter Gojan, and Jerry Sucharyna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Ukrainian Congress, 203-952 Main St., Winnipeg, MB R2W 3P4. Gigi will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT. • We were deeply saddened to hear of Nick's passing. He was the BEST neighbor someone could ever have. We will miss the annual "hanging up" of the garlic on the garage as well as many other vegetables that were passed over the fence. Not only we will miss Nick but so will our four legged furry friend Oliver. Nick always had time to talk him and give him the occasional treat. May you find comfort in knowing that Nick no longer suffers and is at peace. God give you strength and the time you need to heal and live with the memories of a wonderful man. - Posted by: Bob & Lori (neighbors on the west side of Nick's house) on: Jan 24, 2014
