ROSWITHA BOER Roswitha Boer (nee Dause), 61, passed away after a quick and sudden illness with her family by her side at St. Boniface Hospital on January 21, 2014. Roswitha was born in Unna, Germany and moved to Canada with her parents in 1954 and settled in Winnipeg. She graduated as a Psychiatric Nurse in 1980 and decided to take it easy and retire in 2010. Roswitha spent her retirement with her beloved husband, Ken (of 22 years) and they vacationed in "their little piece of heaven" Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Her passions were spending time with family, gardening, baking, and recently wanted to get back into crochet. Roswitha is survived by her mother, Emma; in-laws, Peter and Janny Boer. Her children, Tony and Kim; Jon; Jennifer and Rob; Dustin and Samantha. Her grandchildren, Avery; Emily; Ethan; Aidan; Georgina and Edana. Her brother, Hubert (Maureen and niece, Heather). Her Tante Lydia. Her "special chosen sister", Shelli (Zsieg and nieces, Cali and Cassie) and numerous extended family. She is predeceased by her father, Rudolf. Her Omie and Opa, uncle Edgart, Tante Aina and her uncle Rudy. The service will take place on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Mary Holmen. Both service and reception will be at the Canad Inns on 1415 Regent Ave. West (next to Club Regent Casino Hotel) on the 3rd floor, Ambassador Room. In lieu of flowers we ask you to "hug, hold, love and cherish your loved ones". We would like to thank the many Nurses and Doctors at the St. Boniface Emergency Room and MICU who took care of our wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt and friend.

Ken and Family, I just came back from a wonderful trip to Puerto Vallarta and thought so much of Rose and your plans to live near there. I am so sorry for your loss. Rose was such a professional and many of us came to live here because she made us feel safe and confident that she would take care of any problems. I will miss her quiet kindness that made me want to live here. Although I knew her for such a short time, she felt like a friend you had known for years. - Posted by: Barbara McCulloch (resident of Grand Lyon Terrace) on: Feb 09, 2014

I was reminiscing of days gone by not all that long ago and I remembered you and wondering what had become of you. I remember you as very soft spoken and very nice to everyone. I was looking for a relative's obit when I ran across yours. I would have recognized you anywhere still as pretty as always. Reading everyone's comments about you tells me you never changed. I thought I would write a comment to let your loved ones know that the person they knew was the person you always were. RIP Roswitha and maybe when I get to the other side we can reminisce together. - Posted by: Roslyn Saurette (Machray school class mate) on: Jan 27, 2014
