Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGILBERT SCOBLE September 20, 1918 - January 27, 2014 Gil passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years. He felt he had lived a good life. He had around him during his short illness his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his wife Audrey and his grandchild Craig. Left to remember him are: son Stan, and daughter Judy (Doug), grandchildren Cindy (Garry), Richard (Liana), Brent (Amanda), Matthew (Rebecca), Victoria (Jeff). Also left to remember him are great-grandchildren, Kristen (Keith), Michael (Carrie), Ethan, and Addison. Dad grew up in the North End, the youngest of three brothers and attended Luxton School. His early career was with Macdonald Aircraft but with the advent of war he moved to the RAF in repairing aircraft. After the war he worked at St. Charles Golf and Country Club for a few years. When he became a salesman, and for 28 years selling for HJ Heinz, he believed he had the best job in the world. When Dad retired, Mom and Dad travelled extensively every year to a warmer climate. Destinations ranged from Mexico, cruises and Panama City. When not out of the country he curled at the West Kildonan Curling Club, was a 28 year member of Branch #30 Royal Canadian Legion, and sang in the choir at St. Martins in the Field Church. Summer activities were re-building an old cottage at LacLu. After Mother's passing, he moved into Kildonan House where he made many new friends and remained until his passing. Special thanks to Emergency Room Staff and the nurses on the Third floor at Concordia Hospital who made his final days comfortable. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 30 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice may be made. To all of "The Scobles"... "The Cribbs" have shared so many wonderful and lasting memories with your family at LacLu. We've crossed the Monkey Island divide many times for dinners and happy hours. We always remember to wave as you leave our dock across to your cottage. Gil (and Audrey) were such great friends to our matriarch Anne Cribbs and will truly be missed. He was a wonderful man and they were a fabulous couple! Our prayers are with you at this time. - Posted by: Don, Irene and Nancy-Anne Cribbs (Fellow Cottagers at LacLu) on: Jan 29, 2014
