RONALD IVAN OSACHUK Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Ronald Ivan Osachuk, 68, passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on Thursday, January 30, 2014, with his children at his side. Ron was born in Vita, Manitoba on October 1, 1945. His early years were spent in Finland and One-Sided Lake in Ontario. His family moved to Gardenton, Manitoba, where Ron attended school and helped his father on the family turkey ranch. After high school, Ron worked for Seaforth Plastics in Winnipeg. In 1976 he chose to attend Red River Community College where he subsequently graduated with a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Diploma. He was employed as a residential heating and air conditioning technician with Winnipeg Supply, Great West Heating and most recently Furnasman until his retirement in 2010. In 1975 Ron married Joan (nee Herbus) and they spent the next 38 years keeping company and raising two beautiful children. During their time together, Ron travelled with Joan to different parts of the world with his favourite form of vacation being boat cruises. During Manitoba summers, he loved and took great pride in his garden especially his tomatoes that grew in size and abundance thanks to his careful tending. Ron is survived by his wife, Joan (nee Herbus), son, Andrew, daughter, Wendy, grandson, Matthew, sister Terri Smith (Morgan), brother William (Darlene), nephew Jonathan, and nieces Rachel and Kerri (Trevor), along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Helen (nee Wepruk) and John Osachuk, and his niece Melanie Smith. Service will take place on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, with Father Myron Posniak officiating. Service will terminate at the Chapel. Interment will take place later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
