JEAN GLADYS ROSHKO Jean Gladys Roshko passed away very peacefully and with dignity on February 7, 2014 at twelve noon at the age of 92 with her daughter-in-law Tijen Roshko by her side in Oakview Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Jean was born Jean Kereluk on March 15, 1921 in Silver, Manitoba into a large family of four sisters and four brothers. The family moved to Winnipeg when Jean was very young. After graduating from high school in Winnipeg, Jean attended the Misericordia General Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in the Class of 1944 and then pursued post-graduate studies with a specialization in operating room techniques in Montreal before terminating her professional career to return home to Winnipeg to marry her husband Michael and to devote her life to the care of her home and her family. Jean and Michael were married for 49 years before Michael passed away in 1998. Jean was a gentle and humble soul and the personification of a caring and compassionate Christian who put everyone else's needs before her own. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church, a popular catechism teacher for many years, and a dedicated and selfless caregiver her entire life. One of her most charming and memorable features was her beautiful smile which radiated pleasure and the happiness in her heart and soul. In addition to nursing her husband throughout his final illness, she also spent many hours caring for her sister Nell and attending her sister Anne and Anne's son Jeffrey through their final struggles. Jean is survived by her son Roy, her daughter-in-law Tijen and by nieces and nephews Linda, Gail, Lynn and Larry. We will remember you every day of our lives.
