MARVIN SKAFTFELD 1928 - 2014 Marvin passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on February 9, 2014, with family by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Audrey (nee White), son Ken (Johanna) and grandchildren Erika and Jon, daughter Heather (Ken) and grandchildren Erin and Michael. Marvin is survived by his brother Edwin (Inga), sisters-in-law Eve (Ted), Chris (Ron), along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was the son of the late Gerry and Runa Skaftfeld. Marvin spent his younger years with his family growing up on a farm outside of Baldur, Manitoba, and later moved to Winnipeg where he met and married Audrey White in 1952. Mom and dad shared 61 happy years together, most of it spent at their home in Kirkfield Park. As a young man, he joined the family business as a plasterer, later running his own business as a general contractor until he retired. He was a hard working craftsman who took immense pride in his work and who found great happiness in his family, in nature, friendships and the simple pleasures in life. He was a kind and gentle soul. Ken, Jo, Erika and Jon were happy to share stories with him of their trip to Iceland where they visited his family namesake of Skaftafell and connected with many distant relatives. The family is forever grateful for the compassionate care Marvin received from the staff at Poseidon Care Centre and at Riverview Health Centre CD4. Cremation has taken place and, in keeping with dad's wishes, no service will be held. Rather, his ashes will be spread by his family at a later date in a place he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers and should you so desire, please make a donation in Marvin's name to a charity of your choosing.
