OLGA FRIEDRICH May 22, 1929 - February 10, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Friedrich on February 10, 2014. Olga was predeceased by her husband Felix in 2002 after 54 years of marriage. She will be greatly missed by her son Helmut (Margret), brother Richard (Brigitte), granddaughters, Suzanne (Dean) and Lisa (Marty), niece Sandra (Markus), great-grandchildren Jonah, Claire, and Charlotte, great-nephew Laurens, and great-nieces, Rebecca and Marianna. Olga was born in Russia in 1929, and moved to Germany shortly thereafter, where she met Felix after the Second World War. In 1955, Olga and Felix immigrated to Canada with their young son Helmut. Despite having Type 1 diabetes for many years, Olga led a very independent life, never wanting to inconvenience anyone. After Felix's passing, Olga continued to prove her strength by relocating downtown and starting a new passage in her life. Olga's greatest love was for her family. She took such joy in spending whatever time she could with them. Olga's granddaughters and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, she loved having them over for visits. In Olga's opinion, she could never spoil them too much, and would do the little things that she knew they loved, like keeping Orange Crush in the fridge at all times. It brought great joy to Olga to be able to spend time with her visiting family from Germany during the past couple of years, an opportunity she thought she would never have. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Olga's life at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons, on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 200-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 9Z9.
