JOSEPHINE KARSIN (nee KELLER) It is with great sorrow that we mourn the passing of our mother Josephine Karsin on February 14, 2014. Joey, daughter of the late Lena and Martin Keller, was born February 12, 1929 in her grandmother's home in Berlo, Manitoba. She was predeceased by sisters Lillian Marks and Florence Gottfried and brothers, Ed, Art and Jack. Joey is survived by her sisters, Mary Dzydz, Jane Falvo, Margaret Chwan and Betty Jonasson and brother Donald. Whenever the family got together, out came the musical instruments and dancing would follow. Joey dabbled with the accordion and organ but mostly followed in her brothers footsteps by playing the spoons. Joey married Anthony (Tony) Karsin on June 23, 1951, and they had four children. She leaves to treasure her memory, Donna and Paul Downie, Bruce Kucharczyn and Dolly Wallack, Brian and Tami Karsin, Teri Karsin and Hazen Watson, grandchildren Adam, Nicholas and Bryana, Matthew and great-granddaughter Aliana. Joey and Tony lived in Arborg and then moved to the family farm in Zbaraz. After Tony passed away Joey moved to Gimli Rotary Towers and more recently to Red River Place in Selkirk. She enjoyed her life in Gimli, taking in all the events it had to offer. She had such wonderful times with her sisters and friends over lunches, coffee and shopping. She always looked forward to exploring garage sales for those unidentifiable tools and objects that she had everyone trying to identify. What mom loved and cherished most was her family, who she said brought her so much joy and pride. But it is us, her children and grandchildren, who love her so much and will miss her so much, we are the ones who are blessed. We would like to thank the staff at Red River Place for caring for our mother with such kindness and respect. A service will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 113-7th Avenue, Gimli, Manitoba on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Zbaraz cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remember Joey with fondness. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

  • Joey was a true friend. I cannot express how helpful and supportive she was to me at my time of need. I don't know how I would have made it without her. She will be in my heart forever. Mary Struc and family - Posted by: Mary Struc (Friend) on: Feb 22, 2014
