SHIRLEY MCCUMBER March 15, 1935 February 28, 2014 With gratitude for her life and great sadness for our loss, we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley McCumber, at her home with her family by her side. Shirley was the second daughter of Violet and Stuart Pruden. She had four sisters Lorne, Doreen, Bev, Joan; two brothers Roy and Stu. She grew up on Wavey Creek Road in Clandeboye, Manitoba. She graduated from school there and moved to Winnipeg. Shirley met and married Danny Danyleyko. They were married 30 years and had three children, Kim (Lorne), Terry (Brenda), Darlene (George); eight grandchildren, Kyla, Ellie, Malcolm, Iain, Shaun, Emma, Danny, Kasey and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Ben. Shirley and Danny made their home down Wavey Creek Road. Shirley spent many years working for the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews. She and Danny were involved in many family and community activities. They spent many enjoyable summers at Deception Lake. After a lengthy illness Danny passed away in 1985. Shirley moved to Selkirk following her retirement. Shirley made many new friends and enjoyed participating in various activities. She took up line dancing and ended up teaching for many years. Shirley was reacquainted with an old beau from her younger years, Harold McCumber, and they married in 1990. Together they enjoyed travelling to many destinations near and far, but mostly they delighted in watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and supporting their many activities. Harold passed away in 2010. Shirley was surrounded by close and extended family all of her life. Her memory will be cherished and she will live in our hearts forever. We gratefully extend special thanks to Dr. Zoppa, the Selkirk General Hospital staff, including the dialysis team and her home care service providers, all of whom displayed great care and compassion to Shirley over the past year. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made in Shirley's name to the Kidney Foundation. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
