LORRAINE (LORI) MARY TRAPP November 26, 1939 - March 4, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Lori passed away as she lived, surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She is lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Ron, sons Gerry (Lorna), Kevin (Ginette), Rick (Glenda), Randy (Charlene) and Brian (Pam); 14 beautiful grandchildren and three precious great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Terry and Jeanette (Chicky) (Alan), and brothers Roger (Lynn), Andy (Irma) and Dennis, as well as many extended family members. Lori was predeceased by her father Adelard, mother Alice, brothers Arman, John and Alfred, and sister Margaret. Lori was born in Winnipeg; the second daughter in a family of 10 children. Growing up, she enjoyed sports; this became a lifelong love for Lori. She enjoyed hockey and football but especially baseball. Lori met Ron, the love of her life in 1967. Married in 1968, they raised four boys. Their lives were full of travel, sports, family adventures, fishing, camping, and have inscribed countless memories for Ron and the boys. In their retirement years, Ron and Lori spent 10 years living in their beloved home on the shore of Rainy River, Ontario, forgoing the frigid winters for their vacation home in Florida. The home in Rainy River was always full of family; Lori wouldn't have had it any other way. Ron and Lori moved back to Winnipeg in 1998 so Lori could be near her family. Their home was always filled with family especially at Christmas. Lori and Ron vacationed together all over North America and Lori made friends everywhere she went. Lori enjoyed outings with her sisters, daughters-in-law and grandchildren to bingo or the casino, and her keno playing skills are legendary with her family. Lori greeted everyone with a hug and kiss that warmed your soul; and you didn't leave without one either. Her warmth and genuine love for each and everyone in her life will stay with us all forever. She was quick to laugh, and her sense of humour would have everyone laughing too. You could count on her for comfort, encouragement, laughter, and unconditional love. No one who knew Lori will ever forget her. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street. The family would like to extend thanks to Palliative Home Care, especially Jennifer and Shannon. If friends so wish, donations may be made in Lori's memory to the Humane Society. We can all take comfort in knowing Lori is our angel, with us always. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street (204)224-1525

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Lori was a kind and loving person ,always ready to lend a helping hand to her neighbours. The more one loves animals, the closer one becomes to God I believe. Lori loved dogs. So she will stand closer to God. For are we not all God's creatures? She will be sadly missed on our daily walks. Her smile always an inspiration. May God bless and keep her well, until our next meeting. - Posted by: Garry Palahitski, April Stapon (Friend) on: Mar 08, 2014

  • They are not dead, who leave us this great heritage of remembering joy. They still live in our hearts, In the happiness we knew, in the dreams we shared. They still breathe, In the lingering fragrance, windblown, from their favourite flowers. They still smile in the moonlight’s silver, And laugh in the sunlight’s sparkling gold. They still speak in the echoes of the words we’ve heard them say again and again. They still move, In the rhythm of waving grasses, in the dance of the tossing branches. They are not dead; Their memory is warm in our hearts, comfort in our sorrow. They are not apart from us, but part of us, For love is eternal, And those we love shall be with us throughout all eternity. - Posted by: David Trapp (Step Son) on: Mar 07, 2014
