GRACE E. SMITHERS (nee HESS) July 22, 1917 - March 3, 2014 Peacefully, on March 3, 2014, Grace Smithers passed away at Fred Douglas Lodge, at the age of 96 years. Grace will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Anne (John) Galilee and Gail (Loris) Barsanti and her son David (Kathy) Smithers; her grandchildren Chris, Susan, Warren, Scott, Sarah, and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Warren Smithers and parents George and Maude Hess. Grace was born in Princeton, Ontario, lived in Woodstock, Niagara Falls, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie and lastly in Winnipeg. Mom trained to become a nurse, she was active in the UCW of Sparling United Church and she loved her vegetable and flower gardens but treasured mostly her grandchildren. Thank you to all the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for their wonderful care. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Reverend Scott MacAuley officiating.
