Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGIMENA MADAYAG VINLUAN It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of our beloved wife, grandma, mother, daughter, sister, and auntie on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Gimena Madayag Vinluan passed away suddenly from heart failure at the age of 75. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Rev. Rolando Vinluan, mother Anastacia Madayag, sisters Elsa Albino, Naty (Edgardo) Catbagan, Fima (Jeff) Dycke, sister-in-law Anita Madayag, brothers Danilo (Eutiquia), Pio (Imelda) and Paulino Jr. (Marietta), numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, her two sons: David Roland and Paul Philip (Britany Ying Ying), and grandchildren Clara Mei-ying and Theo Long Fai, who will dearly miss their Lola. She is predeceased by her father Paulino Madayag Sr., and brother Jaime. Mina, as she is known to loved ones and friends, was born in Talugtug, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, on September 20, 1938. She graduated from Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija, Philippines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural and Home Economics in the early 1960s. Following graduation, Mina served the needs of people, particularly in rural areas, as a community developer under the famed Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement. In 1966, Mina was accepted to work in the Frontier School Division as a Home Economics teacher in Cranberry Portage, Manitoba. She was followed by Rolando in 1967 and married shortly thereafter. In June 1968, Mina and Rolando moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and their first son David Roland, was born in November 1968. In 1972, their second son Paul Philip was born. Mina worked for the former municipal hospitals (now known as Riverview Health Centre) from 1970 to her retirement in the early 2000s. Mom's desire to come to Canada was to build a better life for her family, and to give the same opportunity for others to have a happy and harmonious life in Canada. Family was central to everything Mom did, and together with Dad, showed us the value of a loving family, and caring community. Mom was an example to us as a fair and compassionate woman of God, and a wonderful, warm, loving mother and grandma. Viewing/Lamay will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. I worked with Mina for a number of years at Riverview, and she was a wonderful and caring caregiver to our patients. She was also very accomplished with her talents at knitting and crocheting and never sat idle in her spare moments, but always had needles in hand generating beautiful work, without the use of a pattern. My sincerest condolences to her family. Mina, your work on earth is done, rest in the presence of your Lord. - Posted by: Linda Hebb ( Former Coworker) on: Mar 08, 2014

Auntie Gemina is a soft spoken person, kind, humble, servanthood is in her traits, and funny too. When we were in her place she always made sure to make us feel at home and important. After our vacation with them leaving Winnipeg to Calgary she packed our car with food so that we will not be hungry on the road. Since our visit to Winnipeg we were calling each other back and forth to check on how are things going. She also made it clear to us that visiting her and uncle Rolly makes them glad, and would look forward for more visits. But sadly, we can no longer visit her for she is gone with The Lord. Auntie Gemina's memory will be cherished in our hearts and her love for us shall be remembered for as long as we live. May you rest in peace, Auntie Gemina..... - Posted by: Emilson & Joan Vinluan and children Ej & Joem (Nephew and family) on: Mar 07, 2014

We will miss Mina. She was always helping us whenever needed. She was always smiling with a positive attitude. She taught us how to make apple sauce and vegetarian noodles including recipes. She loved her family, friends and relatives. We would like to convey heart felt condolences to Vinluan family during this hard time. God bless her and rest in peace.
