PAMELA LEE PRUDEN It is with profound sadness and sorrow that we announce the sudden passing and unexpected death of our dearly beloved youngest daughter Pam in the early morning hours of March 6, 2014 at the age of 47 years. Pam was born September 22, 1966 at the Selkirk General Hospital. She grew up in Stony Mountain and attended Stony Mountain Elementary School and Stonewall Collegiate. Pam had many friends growing up in Stony Mountain, but her best friend was her sister Karyn. They were often mistaken for each other. Pam participated in figure skating, baseball, ringette, swimming at the pool on the hill and sliding down Pikes Peak. Every summer we would pack up our camper and take off to our favourite place, Hnausa Park on Lake Winnipeg. We were a close family and we were often accompanied by aunts, uncles and many cousins. We always had a great time, rain or shine. I know Pam cherished these memories. Pam was a single parent to her only child, her beloved son James. She always worked to provide a stable home for herself and James. They were always together. She was always so proud of James. In 2005, Pam contracted a deadly fungal disease called blastomycosis. We almost lost her then. She never fully recovered from this disease and she could no longer work and had to go on a disability pension. Last year James had the opportunity to move to BC and live with his Auntie Pearl and Uncle Gary. They have been wonderful to James. Pam was happy that James was doing so well for himself, but she missed him terribly. Pam is survived by her beloved son James; her mom and dad Tom and Penny Pruden; her sisters, Candy, Karyn (Pat) and brother Tom (Sandra); her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many cousins. She is also survived by her constant companions, her dog Gus and her two cats, Moochie and Baby. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, MB. Rest in peace dearest Pam. We will always have you in our hearts and you will be greatly missed. Till we meet again, Godspeed. Goodbye dear one, from your loving family. We loved you dearly. xxxooo In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Pam's memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association or the Humane Society. • I am stunned that the promise of a new friend to cherish and family member to love has been derailed. Intelligent, witty, funny, feisty and sensitive are all terms I will forever associate with Pamela. Why was the time alotted to know her so tragically short? I extend my condolences to all Pamela's family and friends during this time of almost unbearable sorrow. Rest gently, Pamela. - Posted by: Gary Reith (Friend and Extended Family Member) on: Mar 13, 2014

  • When I heard the news, I did what I do to center myself, I went for a long walk with my dog. I went over the words of your obituary in my head, it says something about her life after we lost touch. I am so sorry for the hard times, it seems like there were far too many. I am thankful you always had the love of your family. I remember the look in your eye when you first introduced me to your son. I could see that he was your greatest gift. Most of my memories are from years ago. Those are good, good memories, they make me smile, laugh and maybe blush a little. I will hold onto that, and remember you with that beautiful smile. Rest well my friend, till we meet again. My love to all the family, my heart aches with you. - Posted by: Lara Thomson (friend) on: Mar 12, 2014

  • Remembering all the special times we had when we were like best friends - especially one fine summer day at St. Ambroise not that long ago. It was about 30 above without a cloud in the sky, there was a nice breeze coming off the lake, we had a cooler of ice cold beer, some classic rock on the radio, David and James were playing on the beach, and me and you had our toes in the sand when you looked at me and said "I think this might be the greatest day ever" - I'll always remember you like that, so happy to just be alive. Love always, your brother Tom. - Posted by: Tom (brother) on: Mar 11, 2014

I wish I could have helped you through troubled times.
