LOUIS GENSOREK On Monday, March 10, 2014, Louis Gensorek passed peacefully in his 98th year at Donwood Personal Care Home. Louis will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Elaine (David), his sister Pauline of Langenburg, Saskatchewan and his brother Mike of Transcona, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, his parents, and sister Helen. Louis was born on September 16, 1916 in Rossburn, Manitoba. After losing both his parents at a very young age, he was separated from his brother and sisters. He was taken in and raised by family members. As a young adult, Louis moved to Winnipeg and worked at several different trades, spending the majority of his working life with Eaton's and then as a welder with E.H. Price retiring in 1981. After retirement, Louis became even more involved in his parish helping out with Church dinners, various events, and Bingo nights. He continued to develop his self-taught ability to fix discarded electrical items and spent many enjoyable hours making them functional again. "Thank You' cannot begin to express the family's gratitude for the care and compassion provided to Louis by the wonderful staff at Donwood Personal Care Home over the past nine years. We also deeply appreciate the care-giving companionship extended by many to Louis over the past 11 years, with special thanks to his most recent caregivers Betty and Tina for their kindness and support to both Louis and his daughter, Elaine. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, March 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Parish, at Watt and Munroe. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Louis' memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
