JEAN PAUL FIOLA 1957 - 2014 After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Jean Paul died peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Jean Paul's parents and many of his siblings predeceased him. His mother Aurelie in 1992, father Emilien in 2005, his brothers, Denis in 1966 and Luc in 2005, and his sisters, Agnes in 1999 and Lorette in 2000. To cherish his loving memory is his son Jason and wife Sharel Fiola of Selkirk, his sister Monique (Gilles) Martel of St Leon, and his brother Robert (Suzanne) Fiola of Winnipeg, as well as, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. At a very young age growing up in Mariapolis, Manitoba, Jean Paul developed a very keen mechanical aptitude. He graduated from the Assiniboine Community College in Brandon as an auto mechanic in 1976. He worked in this field until 1979 upon which he obtained employment with CNR as a Carman. He retired from CNR on December 31, 2012. Jean Paul influenced the people close to him to become a better person. His life passions were his family, maintaining the home acreage, coaching Selkirk youth hockey, volunteering in the community, working out at the Wellness Center, and the absolute obsession for the game of golf. The family wishes to thank the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Concordia Hospital, and Selkirk General Hospital/Emergency Center, for their compassion and care. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima Street, Selkirk Manitoba. Interment will take place at a later date. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
