JOAO DA COSTA TELES January 6, 1927 - March 9, 2014 After a lengthy battle with cancer, Joao passed away at the Grace Hospice on Sunday, March 9, at the age of 87, with his family by his side. He is predeceased by his wife Maria da Luz (2013), brothers Antonio and Eduardo, sister Laudalina. Joao is survived by his sons John Manuel (Annette), Altino (Zoila) and daughter Maria (Tajinder). He will be remembered by his grandchildren Destiny, Matthew, Gabriela, Sarmina and Emmitt. Joao was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1957. He retired from the Canadian National Railway in 1992. He enjoyed watching hockey and spending time outdoors. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. The family would like to thank all the staff at the Grace Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or Grace Hospice. I remember the family back in the 70's as a child. My Mom worked with Maria De Luz and we'd occasionally visit them on Friday or Saturday evenings. Senor Teles would be getting ready for work in the late evening as we were ready to part. Condolences to the family from the De Oliveira's. So sorry for your loss. ~ Francisco B. Sorry for your loss, hope you will find comfort in knowing your Dad and Grandpa has been waiting to be united with with your Mom & Grandma since her passing. They will be together for eternity looking down on all of you proudly.
