DOROTHY EDNA WERY January 8, 1937 - March 10, 2014 Mothers are angels that lift us when we cannot fly... On Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10:00 p.m., we experienced the saddest night of our lives, we lost our beloved mother, nana, sister and friend. Dorothy left this world surrounded by her children and grandchildren; listening to all our stories, both humorous and touching, and relishing we are sure, in all of the laughter and closeness of her family. She loved listening to all of our stories throughout the years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Ronnie Mitchell, and her mother Florence. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters Sandy (Gord) and Tracey (Ed); her grandchildren Megan (Bryan), Leah, Courtney (Jeremiah), Kyle (Afton), and Chelsea (Jordan); her beautiful great-grandchildren Logan and Everley, and her sister Gail. We are so blessed to have had such a beautiful soul in our lives for 77 years. Dorothy never had much, never asked for anything, but was always the first to give to others. She touched so many people with her beautiful, caring heart, and if you were lucky enough to know Nana, her never ending chattiness! Dorothy loved sharing her stories. She could go on for hours about her countless camping trips, how she was one of the first women in Winnipeg to receive her motorcycle license, the many motorcycle adventures she went on with her husband Ronnie throughout the States, and her days of competing in the Powder Puff Derby at the old racetrack. Her favourite topic of conversation, however, was bragging about her beloved grandchildren. It did not matter if she had known a person for years or just met them, she would boast about her family and their many accomplishments. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful angels at Concordia Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital, and lastly, the Grace Hospice for all of your care and compassion shown towards our Mother. You became like family to her. From the bottom of our hearts we thank-you. In honouring our mother's wishes a private celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy's name to the Grace Hospice or CancerCare Manitoba. She was an Angel that is for sure. On my first visit, she commented on us both having the same name. I only had the pleasure of visiting her a few times. The last time I saw her I also meet Tracey. It was a pleasure to visit with such a kind and gentle soul. God Bless you all. - Posted by: Dorothy Burgess (Hospice Volunteer at the Grace Hospice) on: Mar 15, 2014
