Mrs. Lockhart; I arrived as a new student in the 1967 grade one class at Heritage School. As a new and very shy student I felt a sense of security in Mrs. Lockhart's class. Each student was treated as an individual who had their own personalty and their own needs to grow. There are many very good teachers in our school system, Mrs. Lockhart was a GREAT teacher. I regret not searching and connecting again. An admirable legacy has been left behind in each of the hundreds of students touched by the one and only Mrs. Lockhart. - Posted by: Brett Mitchell (Student) on: Jul 31, 2020

The first time I met Eleanor, I knew I had to be friends with her. It took several years before our schedules matched up and I was able to spend time with her during their winters in Arizona. She was so full of life that I was sure she would be with us for a very long time to come. I will miss her always. Blessings and love to John. - Posted by: Susan Smith (Friend) on: Mar 22, 2014

Perhaps I should have shared this story at the funeral but I didn't have my words in the right order. Hopefully, I do now as I sit behind this keyboard. As the saying goes 'better late than never'. I can remember being a young child and Aunt Eleanor invited my younger brother Ward and I over for a sleepover. As Eleanor prepared a meal in the kitchen Ward and I decided to have race from the living room, down the hallway, through the dinning room and into the newly finished screened in sunroom. Ward quickly took and held the lead in our race. As he was about to cross the finish line, the boundary line that divided the dinning room from the sunroom, he was abruptly stopped by a freshly windex patio glass door. I learned a few things that day. Firstly, Ward has never been the same since (I kid and I digress). Secondly, sometimes 1st place can be a 'pane in the glass'. Thirdly, and most importantly, Eleanor was quickly there to offer up a cuddle and comfort. That was Eleanor, always there to provide comfort whether you were a family member, a friend, co-worker or one of her students. What a great example for all of us to follow. Love you always, miss you forever. XO Kent Lockhart (Nephew and 2nd place winner in the great race of Pipeline Rd) - Posted by: KeKent Lockhart (Nephew) on: Mar 21, 2014

John, Thinking of you today and sending our sincere condolences. We have so many good memories of times spent with you and Eleanor and always had such good visits on the phone with both of you! Although we grieve for what has been taken away from us, we also begin to realize what has been left – loving memories that can never be taken away. - Posted by: Norma & Willie Briskar () on: Mar 20, 2014

In 1970, Eleanor befriended me when I joined the staff of Heritage School in St. James. We have remained friends down through the years. She will be a great loss to so many people. Rest in peace, Eleanor. I'll miss you. Linda Butler, Morden, MB. - Posted by: Linda Butler (Friend) on: Mar 17, 2014

Eleanor and I went to Brandon Teacher's College together. She called just before the 50th reunion last fall. Eleanor gave her all to her students, friends and to fighting cancer. - Posted by: Sylvia Warachka (teacher friend) on: Mar 17, 2014
