Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN COLIN MCBEATH March 7, 1924 - March 12, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Colin McBeath on March 12, 2014 in Selkirk with family by his side. Colin was predeceased by his beloved wife Grace, parents Elsie and Mac, brothers Neil, Billy, Teddy and Hughie. Colin is survived by his children Judy (Richard), Kathryn (David) and John (Sheila); and his grandchildren Lisa (Chris), Jonathan and Amanda. Colin was born and raised in Bermuda, where he developed a love of the water and sailing. He made many trips as a young man, sailing from Bermuda to New York. Bermuda was a special place for Colin and Grace; it was where they met, were married and started their family. It was because of the love for his wife that Colin left Bermuda to come to Winnipeg and make a life for them and their children, leaving behind sun and sand for snow and mittens. Colin had a long and successful career with the Canadian Pacific Railway Police Service. After retiring, he was an avid softball player and bowler, participating in many leagues and teams in West Kildonan and St. Vital. He was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels for 25 years. Colin had a deep passion for technology and electronics, especially ham radio. He enjoyed learning about how equipment worked, the intricacies of communication by radio and having the opportunity to talk to people from all around the world. In keeping with Colin's wishes, a private family service and internment will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice in his memory.
