JOSEPH BANASH Blessed with 91 years to share with family and friends, Joseph Banash passed away on March 30, 2014. His memory will be cherished by his wife Pauline; daughter Joan (Fred); son Tim (Michele); grandchildren, Wayne (Lana) and Shelley (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Melissa, Haley, Ryan and Kristen; sister Rose (Paul); brother Ed (Pearl) and sister-in-law Pauline Banash, as well numerous extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his son Cliff; daughter-in-law Anna; brother Kasmir; and parents, Mary and Walter. Joe was a kind and gentle man. Born 1923 and raised in the small farming community of Walkleyburg. He entered into the service as a young man, farmed, drove truck for Booth fisheries and had been retired from Selkirk Junior High School for over 25 years. Throughout his life, Joe was passionate about his garden, and it showed. Every year from spring to fall, that is where he could be found. Joe and Pauline travelled extensively with family and saw many of the wonderful things that life has to offer. He was a fisherman and spent many days on the boat with Fred. Joe was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 269 Jemima St., in Selkirk, MB with Father Stan Gacek officiating. Cremation has taken place, a private interment will be held at a later date. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren are honorary pallbearers. Special thanks to the great staff of Selkirk General Hospital for their dedicated care. The family wish to thank all those who have fond memories of Joe. We love you and will miss you. JOSEPH BANASH Peacefully, on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Joseph Banash, aged 90 years of Selkirk, beloved husband of Pauline passed away. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church in Selkirk, MB. Full obituary to follow in Wednesday's paper.
