LILLIAN BARBARA WILKINSON (nee WEISS) With sadness we announce the passing of Lillian Wilkinson on April 2, 2014 at Menno Home in Grunthal. Lil was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Roy, on April 1, 2012. Left to cherish her memory are their three sons Marvin (Marianne), Sid (Patty) and Les (Leona); three grandchildren Jodie (Sunday), Lisa (Jordan) and Scott, and two great-grandchildren Sebastian and Zachary. Lil is survived by her sister Eleanor (Bill); sisters-in-law Mildred and Anne Weiss, Kay Froese, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lil was a caring, generous and loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lil's greatest joy in life was her family and caring for her family. She was born on July 8, 1925 on the family farm and grew up in the Ridgeville (Friedensthal) district. On September 24, 1949, Lil married Roy Wilkinson and soon after started raising their family of three boys on the farm in Ridgeville. While on the farm, Lil was actively involved in the Ridgeville community. Lil was a long-time member of the Anglican Church, the WI (Women's Institute) and she was always willing to lend a hand helping out with cooking and baking for curling bonspiels and fall suppers. Lil loved flowers, playing cards, crossword puzzles, drives in the country and watching curling and Bomber games on TV. Lil was an excellent baker and will always be fondly remembered for our family favourites: chocolate cake, hot cross buns and homemade bread. A celebration of Lil's life will be held on Monday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m., in Greenridge United Church, with lunch to follow at the Ridgeville Hall. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to mom's wonderful caregivers at Greendale Estate and Menno Home for their exceptional care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Menno Home for the Aged, P.O. Box 280, Grunthal, MB R0A 0R0. We love you and will miss you. Rest in peace. Morris Funeral Home

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Some of my fondest childhood memories are of being in the kitchen with Aunty Lily; watching her create wonderful dishes, and sometimes 'helping' her. I loved going out to her garden with her as well, as there was always such an abundance of wonderful things. She will be missed by many, but we are all better off for having had her in our lives. Marvin, Les & Sid, please know our thoughts are with you and your families at this time. Mary & Wade - Posted by: Mary Weiss (Niece) on: Apr 07, 2014
