TRYNTJE BAKEMA (nee PLEIZIER) On December 26, 2013 with great sadness we announce the passing of Tryntje Bakema, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Groningen, Netherland on October 7, 1923, she immigrated to Canada with her family in the fall of 1954 and resided in Transcona for most of her life. She was predeceased by her husband Arend, of 49 years, in 1993, daughter Hendrikje in 1956 and son Albert in 1994. Tryntje is survived by her daughters Tryntje Cathy (Wayne) Finlay and Johanna (Charlie) Bynski; her son Arend Harry (Roseanna) Bakema; grandchildren David (Paula) Bynski, Richard Bynski, Cherie (Erik) Sochin, Maria (John) Barnard; step-grandchildren Chris and Craig Finlay and their families, and great-grandchildren Alexander, Kelvin, Rachel, Noah, and Joseph. She is also survived by her sister Johanna Bos, the last of a family of 13 and numerous nieces and nephews in Holland. Mom's focus was always on family, special occasions and, in her younger years, camping in the Whiteshell. The family would like to thank the staff at Concordia Place for the compassionate care over the last 13 years. A Celebration of Tryntje's life will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium, 1800 Day St., interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Rd.
