Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I was so sad to hear of Jean Louis's passing. I got to know Jean Louis in High school, he and my brother were in the same grade. Jean Louis was a track star. I remember one year, there was a competition for track & field for the class that earned the most points. Jean Louis and his class friends were running the half mile or the mile race. As they neared the finish line, the leaders in the race slowed down and the 2nd. 3rd 4th and 5th caught up. They then proceeded to hold hands and cross the finish line all six of them in the first place position. Needless to say they won for the most accumulated points. My heartfelt condolences to Merv and Jean Louis's family. He will be missed and his beautiful smile and twinkle in his eyes will always live on. Be at peace my friend. - Posted by: Jeanne Faucher-Boily (school friend) on: Apr 17, 2014

  • Merv, I cannot tell you how sorry I was to hear about Jean-Louis. I so know the pain you are feeling. I feel so privileged to have been able to spend some time with both of you last month. Please, when you feel you are up to it, call me so we can talk. Yvette Morin - Posted by: Yvette Morin (Phoenix) (Friend) on: Apr 10, 2014

  • Jean Louis was like a big brother to me. He was very close to my parents, Alphie and Jerry Forest. My Mother was his real estate agent it was from this their friendship grew. I heard Jean Louis and Merv stories for years from my parents and my godmother, Jean Perrault long before for I actually met them. When I did finally meet them, I fell in love instantly, it truly was a close bond I felt with them. Jean Louis and Merv not only "hung out" with my parents in the city, they also enjoyed each other in Mexico where they all spent the winters. In fact, my Father passed away suddenly in Mexico and it was Jean Louis that came to the rescue for all of our family at this time. He took care of us, as well as the business issues in Mexico. He drove my Mother in her motor home which towed his car and me driving the family car back to Winnipeg after all affairs were taken care of in Mexico. He was our hero. Jean Louis gave me away when I got married 3 years later, that tells you how I felt about the man. Jean Louis was there for me and my Mother once again when she passed almost 3 years ago now. As always, he gave me strength and was there for us all. He was a character for sure, with a true heart of gold, although he didn't take kindly to compliments and was sure to follow up some heartfelt feelings I'd share with some comment that made me want to hit him, instead, inevitably we'd always break out in laughter. I will surely miss him ... and always love him. - Posted by: Diane Chopek (Soul Sister) on: Apr 09, 2014

  • Rest in Peace - Posted by: Marc Forest (Family Friend) on: Apr 09, 2014

  • Through the years Jean Louis has been a friend. We started grade one together at the one room school of Caledonia. Although we didn't connect very often, when we did we were always able to pick up where we left off and chat as though we had constantly been in touch. We cared about each other. It pains me that I will not be able to attend the service on Thursday due to a commitment that I cannot change. I express my deepest sympathies to Merv and to Jean Louis's family. May your memories bring you comfort. May you also find solace with family and friends. Sending love, Simone Morin - Posted by: Simone Morin (friend) on: Apr 09, 2014
