ANGELA MARIA DI PIETRO (nee MASTROGIOVANNI) July 2, 1942 - April 3, 2014 Peacefully, and with her family by her side, Angela Di Pietro passed away and entered the arms of The Lord. Angela was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Mario Di Pietro, and parents, Sinforosa and Lauro Mastrogiovanni. To cherish her memory, Angela leaves her children Lia Baksina (Catrina, Alessandra, Roselina), Angelo and Karen Di Pietro (Celina, Brianna), sister Gaitana Di Crescentis, brother-in-law Aldo and Pat Di Pietro, and numerous nieces and nephews. Angela was born in Scanno, Italy and immigrated to Canada where she married her soul-mate, Mario in 1961 and embraced life as an Italian-Canadian and later, mother to her two children. Mario and her children were never too far from her thoughts. There are many things that can be said for this very special lady known to many as a good friend, avid seamstress, cook and crafter but in her later years, her greatest joy was her role as Nonna to five granddaughters. Her legacy lives in her love for them, she was thrilled to celebrate their accomplishments throughout their lives. She was also a woman of deep faith whose daily prayers always included her friends and family. The family wishes to thank all of our friends and family for their support of Mom these past two years and during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Condolences will be offered one hour prior to Mass, Eulogy will be read at 12:45 p.m. and the Mass will commence at 1:00 p.m. Reception will follow in the Church Hall (Roy Poltronetti Memorial Hall). As this is the season of lent all are reminded that flowers are not admitted in the Church at this time. Interment of her ashes will take place at a later date. Condolences & Memories (12 entries)

  • Angelina and Mario were always welcoming and warm, especially to those of us who married into this big Italian familia. It is very unbelievable that these 2 beautiful people are gone from us in their young years. Mario once told us that when the coffee was served, it was a signal that it would be time for the guests to leave soon afterward. The coffee has been served too soon. Sorry that we can't be there to give you hugs, but we are thinking of you both, Lia and Angelo and your families and we send you our love. - Posted by: Frank and Marianne Macario (Friends) on: Apr 11, 2014

  • Lia and Angelo, we will remember Angela as a gentle, soft spoken lady whose smile would always brightened everyone's spirits. She only had nice things to say and was so sincere. Your parents were both wonderful people. May precious memories of them be a source of comfort to you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Roma and Gina Falsarella (Friends) on: Apr 10, 2014

  • It was sad news when we learned of Mario's passing and now we have lost another wonderful, compassionate friend. We shared many good times at the lake. Angela would call me Mamma Lou and we would have a lot of laughs around the table drinking Mario's wine with Jack playing the piano. They were great neighbours to have next door. Jack passed away 5 years ago, so now they can get together again and enjoy those good times again..somewhere up there. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family during this very sad and difficult time. Your Mother always had a smile on her face and always welcomed us in their home. May God bless. - Posted by: Louise Baker/Sue Ingleton (Lake friends) on: Apr 09, 2014

  • Your parents were very good friends of my in-laws. I met your mother over 40 years ago and instantly felt a connection. I think it is because we shared the same shoe size which was always a curse for us. We had many laughs about that. So glad I got to see her again shortly before she left us.I feel very sorry that you all had to lose your mother and Nonna so soon after your father. Take care! - Posted by: Stan and Sonia (Family friend) on: Apr 08, 2014

  • Lia, your mom would light up the room with her laugh and stories! She was always so animated and caring. I'm sorry for your loss and that I will not be able to attend the celebration of her life. Thoughts and prayers are with you, Trina, Ally, Rosie and family. <3 - Posted by: Marlena Bova (Friend) on: Apr 08, 2014

  • Angela was a wonderful woman. She was kind hearted and always seemed to have a ready smile. She was proud of her Italian ancestry but at the same time adapted to Canadian life with great resolve and enthusiasm. She never failed to ask how my family was doing especially my mother with whom she had developed a strong friendship though admittedly they had lost physical contact. Such is life! My mother recalls Angela with great fondness especially when they were both involved with the Ladies Auxiliary of the old Casa d'Italia. Those were were wonderful, unforgettable times when the spirit of camaraderie and sense of respect prevailed. Angela you will be sadly missed. Our condolences go out to the DiPietro family and kin. - Posted by: Stan and Anna Carbone (friends) on: Apr 08, 2014

  • Lia and Angelo. No words can describe the passing of your mother. As a little boy in Winnipeg, I spent many evenings at your mother's house. It was like a second home. Your mother's laughter and sense of humour is what I remember the most. She always had time for visitors. Always a house full of people. Just remember the good times. God has called your mother to help build the path to heaven when we are called to join them. Once again, I am very sorry. • Lia, Angelo and families, I will always remember your Mom every time I sing Lady of Quadalupe. She was always telling me she loved that song, so when I saw her in church I would make sure to sing it. I am so sorry I will not be able to sing it for her funeral. May God be with all of you and grant you peace, strength and love, and all the wonderful memories you have shared will remain with you all forever.....Amen - Posted by: Tonina & Agostino Fiorentino & Family (friends) on: Apr 08, 2014
