ANTONIA (ANTONIETTA) BUSSOLI On Saturday, April 5, 2014, with her family by her side, mom decided it was time to be reunited with her husband Paolo, mother Fiora Ciarelli, father Efisio Rosati, and daughter-in-law Darlene. She is survived by her six loving children: Tony (Maria), Maria (Pasquale), Rina (Etienne), Joe, Nella (Ron), Frank (Diane), as well as, grandchildren: Antonella, Paul, Erminia, Rina, Janet, Michael, Chelsea, Rick, Melissa, Jessica, Stephanie, Kayla, and Braden, and five great-grandchildren. Mom was born in Paglieta, Italy on February 15, 1925. She married Paolo on August 19, 1945. It was 1960 when mom along with her children, Tony, Maria, Rina and Joe, landed on the shores of Halifax (Nella and Frank would be born later), enroute to Winnipeg to join dad, who had blazed the trail for a better life for his family. Not one to sit idle, mom quickly found employment outside the home in the shoe industry, in order to assist raising a rather large family. Mom worked relentlessly around the house as there were always meals to be cooked, bread, pizza and cookies to be baked and children's clothes to be patched. Without a doubt, mom loved her family more than anything else in the world and one way she expressed this was to spend countless hours in the kitchen cooking and baking for family functions, which our house always seemed to be the epicentre for. Mom would undoubtedly always be the first to volunteer baking her famous peaches and amaretto cookies for numerous special events over the years. When her eyes were better, mom knit up quite the storm; making beautiful afghans, sweaters and baby outfits. Mom was also devoted to her Catholic faith, leading others in the rosary when she lived at Villa Cabrini. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to ALL the Simkin Centre staff for their loyal and exceptional care for mom over the past couple of years. Even though mom's words were few in the end, you still managed to bring a mischievous smile to her face. Mass of the Christian burial will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue on Friday, April 11 at 10:45 a.m. with Father Sam Argenziano officiating and eulogy will begin at 10:30 a.m. Viewing will be held 30 minutes prior to the eulogy. Pallbearers will be Paolo, Rick, Braden, Michael, Peter and Rob. Interment will follow reception at St. Boniface Cemetery, 917 Archibald Street. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Until we meet again mom, Riposa in Pace The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald Street 204-253-5086 ejcoutu.com

  • The house was so quiet that night, with only the sound of memories. And though it was nighttime, beaming through the window, was the brightest light of the planets, moon and stars coming together and saying, "we're here." Brighter than any night remembered, we knew this was far from ordinary. Quietly, with whispers of laughter and tears, we stood outside, not wanting the moment to disappear. And with our eyes fixed on the night skies, we saw something extraordinary... There, in the still night, was the clearest view to heaven we have ever seen. Thank you Nonna. - Posted by: Antonella () on: Apr 10, 2014

  • Zia was a truly wonderful soul and she will truly be missed. I remember her broken English and wonderful subliminal way to make everyone in the room feel included and smile. She was truly a force to be reckoned with and she lived a very full life. For this, while we mourn our loss, we should celebrate all the joy she brought to everybody she touched. Our Winnipeg family is truly blessed to have been in the presence of a soul as warm as hers. Thank you zia for everything - Sei meravigliosa. - Posted by: Luigi La Tona (Family) on: Apr 09, 2014
