JOYCE ELIZABETH GALBRAITH (nee MACKEAN) Joyce Elizabeth Galbraith (nee MacKean) passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on April 8, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Joyce is survived by her daughter Barbara Dowsett (Barry); sisters Dorothy Kaye and Greta Alder (Tom); brother Terry MacKean (Michelle); sister-in-law Connie English; son-in-law Luc Riezebos; grandchildren Sandra Bracken (Sean), Matthew Riezebos, Telecia Dowsett, Maxon Dowsett; great-grandchildren Gray and Calla; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Ron, her daughter Judy Riezebos (Luc), sisters Lorna MacKean and Dianne Goebel (Herb); and brother Doug MacKean. Born in Winnipeg on January 26, 1930, to Marion and Hugh MacKean, Joyce was third eldest in a large family. She enjoyed school and music, participating in musical productions and singing solos in the church choir. She was an avid reader and she especially enjoyed family gatherings. Joyce married Alexander Ronald Galbraith on August 6, 1955, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary together in 2005. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at Waverley Memorial Gardens, 1501 Waverley Street, at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception at Meadowood Manor where she resided for the last few years.
