GEORGE ALLEN MALKIN It is with saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Dad on April 4, 2014 at Kin Place Personal Care Home surrounded by family and friends. He is predeceased by his wife Martha (Bunny), brothers Christopher, Peter, John, sister Catherine, and sister-in-law Christine He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by daughter Catherine Parkinson, son Allen Malkin, sister Joyce, and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on July 20, 1924 in Grimsby, England where he served his apprenticeship to become a Blacksmith. From 1942 to 1946 he was in the British Navy Special Service and was posted in North Africa, Malta, Italy and United Kingdom. Dad came to Canada in 1947. He worked for the CN at the Transcona Shops as a Blacksmith from 1948 to his retirement in 1983. In 1949 he married Martha (Bunny) and they had two children. Dad had a smile for everyone and was a volunteer in his community. When someone needed help he was always available. He was dedicated to his family and loved gardening and traveling with Mom. He was a kind, gentle man. A good father and a great friend. He was devastated by the loss of his soul mate Bunny in 2007 and has finally rejoined her. His quick wit and caring nature will be missed by all who knew him. We would like to thank Rev. Cathy Kinsmen, Maureen McCartney, Bruce MacLean and the staff at Kin Place Personal Care Home for the care and compassion they gave George. At Dad's request cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at Oakbank United Church on Monday, April 14 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of George to Kin Place Personal Care Home Recreation Department.
