JESSIE VAN DER ZWEEP Peacefully, Jessie (Jitske) van der Zweep passed away in Stonewall on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Left to mourn are her five children Perry (Tracy), Nicholas (Jacquie), Felicia (Trevor), Julia (James) and John (Carla), and ten grandchildren Sarah, Matthew, Bret, Michael, Adrian, Charlotte, Campbell, Latham, Daniel and Ian. She is also survived by her siblings, Roelof (Annie), Meindert (Katherina), Corry (Nol). She is predeceased by her loving husband Teake, sisters Julia (Jaap), Johanna (Theo), Greta (Bertus) and Aukje as well as brothers Johannes (Grete), Hessel (Guuke), Andries, baby Hessel, and her twin brother Hank (Gerda). Jessie was born in Friesland, Netherlands to Fetje and Nicolaas Bonekamp. She came to Manitoba in 1959 to visit Hank, Meindert and Greta, met Dad and never looked back. Her upbringing on the farm in Holland provided her with lifelong values of family, faith and a strong work ethic. She was a loving and dedicated partner working side by side with Dad on the farm they shared in Balmoral, Manitoba. She never did anything in half measures and put her heart and soul into providing for her family. She loved gardening. The home seemed to have flowers in bloom all year round. She grew an enormous vegetable garden. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, Oma, friend and member of her church. Though she loved to keep busy, she always had time to listen, provide valuable advice or cook a "favourite meal". Let's not forget those beautiful sweaters she knitted for the children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of Rosewood Lodge who welcomed Mom into their "family" and showed so much love and compassion in these last five months. A funeral mass will be held at Stonewall Roman Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on April 25, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
