Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSALIE MAZUR It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Rosalie R. (Rose) Mazur (nee Moroz) on April 13, 2014. Rosalie is survived by her loving husband Edward of 53 years; her son Joseph (Jennifer) of Charleston, SC; daughter Diane Stasiuk (Hans) of Portage la Prairie, MB; grandchildren, Madeline, Andrew and Will; and sisters Annie and Myrtle. She was predeceased by her parents Jennie and Carl, brother Michael, and sisters Mary and Bella. Rosalie was born on September 1, 1935 in Wishart, SK and went to grade school in the area. She then attended high school at Sacred Heart Academy in Yorkton, SK. Rosalie had a calling for nursing that led her to Winnipeg where she graduated from the Misericordia General Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1958. In that year she received the Gold Medal Award signifying the highest academic standing and clinical excellence in obstetrical nursing. She then completed her postgraduate studies in maternal-child nursing at the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey. During her studies in Jersey City, she was courted by a special suitor Edward Mazur. They were married in Winnipeg in 1960 and established their lives there. Shortly after completing her post-graduate studies, Rosalie worked as a labor and delivery nurse at Misericordia Hospital. She then went on to become an academic and clinical instructor at the Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing from 1960 to 1978. While meeting the challenges and rigors of raising a family and working full-time, Rosalie also acquired higher education degrees, namely a Bachelor of Arts in 1979 and a Masters of Education in 1985 at the University of Manitoba. She also earned a Gerontological Nursing Fellowship at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Nursing/St. Boniface General Hospital. Rosalie assumed a new role as a nursing coordinator at the St. Boniface Hospital School of Nursing from 1980 to 1985 followed by her role as an academic nurse clinician from 1985 to 1994. From 1994 onward, Rosalie was an instructor at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Nursing until her retirement in 1997. Throughout her career Rosalie authored and presented various nursing research works and papers and was actively engaged in various endeavors, holding memberships in and/or serving on numerous boards and committees including Jocelyn House, Legal Assistance Fund Committee (Chairperson), University of Manitoba Research Institute, Manitoba Gerontological Nursing Association, Canadian Nurse Educators Association, Manitoba Association of Registered Nurses (Past Vice-President and President Eastman Region) and Misericordia Nurses Alumni. Throughout her entire nursing career, Rosalie was highly regarded by her students and co-workers and took great pride in tutoring and mentoring students after she retired. Rosalie maintained a deep faith in God and was actively involved in various ministries at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church. Rosalie was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother and grandmother (Baba). Family was her top priority and she cherished every moment with her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren. Baba loved to play games with her three grandchildren and especially enjoyed hearing about and/or watching all of their extra-curricular activities and sharing in their development and achievements. She and Edward were lifelong partners who collaborated fully with each other. They enjoyed traveling to visit family or to spend time with friends. Rosalie loved reading, gardening, and socializing. She was a devoted (and vocal) sports fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Jets. Her loving heart and home were always open to all. She loved to entertain and cook, sharing these bountiful gifts with family and friends. Rosalie was a loyal, generous and loving friend to many and will be deeply missed by all of her nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. We miss you dearly. Your sudden departure on angels' wings has left us with unspeakable sorrow. We will love you forever We will always remember the way you looked, the way you walked and smiled, all the things you did for us, will be with us all the while. You always did your best, your heart was true and tender, you lived your life for those you loved, and those you loved will remember. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford Street on Tuesday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m., with viewing commencing at 10:00 a.m. in the church. A luncheon will follow in the church hall with interment at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at a charity of choice. CROPO 204-586-8044

Mrs. Mazur......such a sweet, kind, smart, generous & loving person. She always welcomed people into her home & her heart. One of my favorite memories is how she helped prepare me for my crucial interview to get into physio school. Thanks to her great preparation, I had the second highest interview score....and I made the roster of 22 physio students back in 1989. She & her daughter Diane hosted my bridal shower in 2006. I have nothing but great memories of this incredible lady who was an adopted mom to many university students. My deepest condolences to Mr. Mazur, Joe & family and Diane & family. Rosalie left quite a mark.....she will never be forgotten by loved ones & all the people she touched. - Posted by: Erin Murray (Family friend ) on: Jul 04, 2014
