  • Al was a close friend and valuable colleague. He captured the essence of a renaissance scholar who was a brilliant thinker and great scientist, a dedicated philosopher of history and politics, and a moral inspiration who cared deeply about fundamental rights and wrongs. - Posted by: Ray Perry (Close friend.) on: May 14, 2014

  • Alexander was a tremendously careful and thorough thinker. His ability to make an "academic comeback" in his final year of life was impressive. I am honored to have known him. - Posted by: Stephanie Isbell, Ph.D. (Colleague) on: May 02, 2014

  • Al was a colleague and friend at St. John's College for about 15 years. He was a wonderful colleague and friend. - Posted by: Rod Clifton (Colleague) on: Apr 28, 2014

  • Dr. Pressey was one of the most inspiring teachers I had during my graduate training. He had a large and enduring influence on my understanding of psychology, especially through our discussions about the philosophy of science. He was a very intellectually generous and supportive teacher. He truly cared about the development of his students and it was obvious that he enjoyed having impact. It is easy for me to detect his influence on my day to day thinking, even after 25 years. I am saddened by his death, which was too soon. - Posted by: Hal Wallbridge (former student) on: Apr 25, 2014

  • Al and I became friends and colleagues when I came to the University of Manitoba In 1969. He was a brilliant man. - Posted by: Michael LeBow (Colleague and friend al was one of the first individuals I meant when I arrived as a new professor i) on: Apr 23, 2014

  • Al was always thinking and one of the most brilliant people I have ever known. - Posted by: Sandy Wilson (Al was a mentor to me. W) on: Apr 22, 2014
