CHRISTINA SIRMAN On March 28, 2014 Christina Sirman was called to heaven, at the age of 57. Chris was born in Rainy River, Ontario to Olga Sirman and John Sirman (deceased). Chris lived in Ontario her early years, then moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Christina is survived by her only daughter Bobbie Sirman-Silva, son-in-law Richard Porterfield, and her beautiful grandchildren Katrina Silva, Reegan Porterfield, Richard Porterfield Jr. and Riley Porterfield. Christina will also be dearly missed by her sisters Arlene Sirman, Darlene Sirman, and her brothers Ivan Sirman, Dennis Sirman, Michael Sirman and John Sirman. Christina was a remarkable artist and a certified culinary chief. Christina loved education and enjoyed her years in university where she studied psychology, sociology, history, history of art, religion, community development, socialization and development, and criminology. Christina graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree all while being a self-supporting single parent. Christina was passionate about helping others in her community and volunteering as a counsellor for teens and women in crisis. Christina managed, facilitated, researched and coordinated many employment projects for women, and projects for better living for those with disabilities in Canada and other countries, one country being Ukraine which she was most proud of. Chris had great, witty sense of humour, was kind, selfless and always stood up for what she believed was right even if that meant she'd be standing alone. She was strong willed and spirited. Most of all an amazing mother and grandmother and no visit was complete without hundreds of hugs, kisses, snuggles and a smile that lit up our lives. Christina battled cancer on and off for 14 years - when cancer pushed her she pushed right back until the Lord broke up the fight. Our family wishes to express our sincerest thanks to the 3rd floor East Wing staff at Riverview Health Centre. Although Christina was only with them a short time, we greatly appreciated the care and compassion they extended to her. Funeral service will be held in Brandon, Manitoba on Friday, July 11 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street at 10:00 a.m. and a Celebration of Life reception will follow at Victoria Inn, 3550 Victoria Ave., Brandon, MB. Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Dear Chris as I knew her as aunty, and whenever I could I would do anything for her , we could sit outside and watch people go by. And the memory that I will never forget would be either the smile on the bumper pads, or when we played darts she would make fun of the way I rolled the dice, unfortunately I was not home when she found her way to heaven, but she was a lady that even if met her once you could never forget her smile or her presence CHRIS . You maybe with god now but you were very well loved and a joy and without you it's not the same but someone will be there waiting for you. LOVE AND MISS YOU SO MUCH - Posted by: Dawn Corbett (Friend) on: Jul 05, 2014
