Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRIDGET (BIDDY) DOROTHY CHADEFFAUD (nee COWELL) It is with great sadness our family announces the passing of Biddy, April 28, 2014 at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Formerly a long-time resident of Blenheim Avenue in St. Vital, then Middlechurch Home. Born in England, December 24, 1933 to Annie Everline (nee Patterson) and Nichol Cowell. She immigrated to Winnipeg, MB, Canada in 1949 with Mom, four siblings and two dogs. Initially living with our wonderful Aunt Lil and cousins Lil and Joyce; it was very cramped but lots of love. Later she married Pierre and they had a lovely daughter Nicole and grandchildren Danielle and Conner. In 1949 she started at the Canadian Wheat Board and was there for many years and later worked a number of years for friend Carol at the Heather Curling Club. She also took art classes and was a very talented painter and produced some excellent paintings and art work. Biddy was a wonderful daughter to her Mom, who lived with her and Pierre and received all the love and care possible, prior to her Mom going into a care home and later passing away. Biddy was very special; she was independent and feisty by nature (in a good sense). She owned her own horse for a while. She loved people and all animals. She was always there to help anybody out. She volunteered for many years giving loving care at Jocelyn House. Even as a small child she brought home any injured animals, nursing them back to health. She was a night owl who loved to play cards, cribbage and bingo with Pierre and she had a penchant for visiting the casino; she was always sure she was going to win! Her love of horses extended to many visits with Pierre to Assiniboia Downs. She was predeceased by husband Pierre in 1995; her daughter Nicole (only 42) in 2012; her Mom and Dad, siblings Pat, Nick and Liz, and long-time friend Dorothy Duncan. Left to remember and mourn Biddy are her grandchildren Danielle and Conner; brother Tom (Val); nieces Diana (Paul) and Deborah (Shawn); nephew Tom (Sheila); great-nephew Joshua, and great-niece Addison; also nephews John (Christie), George, Tom (Traci), and great-nieces Rebecca, Sarah, Ilyssa and great-nephew Brett; as well as her extra special friend, Carol Fraser (Russ and Reese), and her special cousins, Lil and Joyce and families. Also her special childhood friend Sylvia in England, long-time friend Gladys, and the many, many friends she met and retained on her journey through life. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of the loving care by doctors, nurses and staff given to Biddy at Middlechurch Home and Seven Oaks General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to the no kill animal shelter D'ARCY'S A.R.C., 730B Century Street, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0M1. In keeping with Biddy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. "You will always be remembered. Love you Bid." Tom and Family "You had a good run - rest easy. Your loyalty, commitment and friendship will always be remembered."
