ANDREA FRANCESCO CARMELO AIELLO Peacefully on May 2, 2014, with family by his side, Andrea Aiello passed away at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 95. He will be sadly missed by his children Caterina Di Nella (Mario), Rosamaria, Raffaele (Alda); grandchildren Amalia (Ryan), Robert (Chanel), Alissa and Andrew; and great-grandchildren Connor and Brennan. He will also be missed by his brother Carmelo (Paulina) and sister Carmela. Andrea was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Maria Rosa, his sister Maria, brothers Francesco and Giuseppe. He will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Andrea was born on October 23, 1918 in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy and served in the Second World War. In 1947 he married Maria Rosa Masi. Together they immigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina where he found work as a streetcar conductor. After 10 years in Argentina, they immigrated to Canada in 1959 to join the rest of his family. He was a dedicated employee of Blackwood Beverages Bottling Company for 23 years. Andy, as he was referred to by his co-workers and neighbours, enjoyed the simple things in life including working in his garden, making homemade wine and salami, and being with family and friends. He was a man whom many would say never complained about a thing and always enjoyed sharing a glass of wine. We would like to thank the staff on the E6 ward at St. Boniface Hospital for the care they gave to our father over the past month. As well, thank you to the residents at 64 Nassau St. N for the friendship and support they shared with our father, especially after our Mother passed away. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Andrea's name to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Andrea's life will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Avenue. Viewing and condolences will be one hour prior to the mass. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Avenue. Pallbearers will be Robert Di Nella, Andrew Aiello, Ryan Oger, Carmelo Aiello, Frank Sacco and Raffaele Aiello. Family and friends are invited to a reception in the church hall following entombment.
