GRACE YVONNE FROST (née ARNOLD) 1926 - 2014 Grace Frost, of Teulon, MB, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away suddenly on May 4, 2014. Grace is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Albert Frost, four children Lorraine (Ron Common), Bruce (Tanis), Barbara (Miodrag Cvitkovic) and Trevor (Felicia); eight grandchildren Lauren (Scott Baker) and MacKenzie Common; Jason, Ryan (Jennifer) and Samantha Frost, Yasmin (Drew) Halfnight; Michael and Adrian Frost; and two great-grandchildren Samuel Baker and Grace Halfnight. She is also survived by her sister Gwen (Al) Summers of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Damon Hartung, her brothers Laurie, Ted and Douglas, and her sisters Lillian and Gladys. Grace was born on January 9, 1926, at Framness, near Arborg, MB. After completing her schooling at Framness and St. Benedict's Convent in Arborg, she taught in a one-room school house for a year, which convinced her that she wanted to be a nurse. She entered nursing training at Winnipeg General Hospital and graduated in 1949. She started her nursing career in Beausejour as a public health nurse. A year later, she moved to the public health unit at Teulon, MB. There she met Albert Frost and they were married in 1951. Grace took a nursing position at Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon in 1951. She continued to practice her profession while raising a family and helping run the family farm, eventually becoming the Director of Nursing. As a practicing nurse, she continually upgraded her qualifications and skills in order to be the best she could be in her chosen profession. She retired from nursing in 1990. During her retirement, Grace continued to volunteer at Goodwin Lodge, the Women's Institute and other community organizations. She enjoyed gardening, travelling and reading. She took great delight in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her nieces and nephews and their children, remembering birthdays and special interests no matter how large the flock became. Mom always said she made three great decisions in her life: becoming a nurse, marrying Dad and having her children. She had a positive attitude toward life that rubbed off on those around her; she was a cheerful, competent, determined person who had a way of efficiently getting things done, all the while keeping the welfare of her family and others foremost. She will be sorely missed. We love you Mom. A memorial service will be held at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Grace's memory to Hunter Memorial Hospital, P.O. Box 89, Teulon, MB R0C 3B0. We wish to thank the medical and nursing staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital for the competent care they gave Mom during her short stay at the hospital and their compassion for us after her passing. We would also like to thank the nursing staff of Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon. Mom was very proud of them, having hired some of them and seen their careers develop. She always said they were a great staff. We would also like to mention the doctors with whom Mom worked over her 38 years at the hospital. Mom always enjoyed her work with these doctors and many became personal friends. Finally, we also would like to thank Dr. Michael Loudon of Teulon, Mom's family doctor, for his care, concern and compassion for Mom and Dad over the years.
