YVETTE MARIE ROLANDE ZASTRE (nee BRELAND) It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother, Granny and Little Granny on May 6, 2014, after a brief illness with her family by her side at Seven Oaks General Hospital. Yvette leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, her children Carole Rose Zastre, Julia Morrisseau (Karl), and her baby boy Robert Zastre; grandchildren, Jocelyn (Greg), Alanna (Dale), and Lisa (Ray); great-grandchildren Hannah, Kiera, Fallon, and Kendra; brother Allan (Beatrice) Breland. In addition, she leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, family friends, and any person who called her Granny. Yvette was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years Lucien in 1994, her parents Delia and Albert Breland, and numerous brothers and sisters. Yvette was born in Cayer, Manitoba on November 17, 1921, she was raised working on the farm, and taking care of her younger siblings. She married her husband in 1946, and welcomed their three children into the world. She made a home for them in Abbotshall, where she had a part in raising many children and supporting the community. She moved to Winnipeg in 1981, to be closer to her children and grandchildren. At Yvette's request cremation has taken place. A memorial service honouring Yvette will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with a lunch to follow. Burial will take place in Rorketon, MB at a later date. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Zastre, Karl Svens, Dale Spence, Ray Pereux, Richand Jantti, and Greg Jack. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Special thanks go to the doctors, and nurses at Seven Oaks General Hospital for their compassion and care during this difficult time. The song has ended, but the melody lingers on. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I grew up with fond memories of Yvette as a neighbor and my babysitter at times. She had the patience of a saint and always had a good story to tell... And sometimes a swat for my butt. The world was blessed to have you, but you get to spend your time with Lucien now and watch down on all of us. A wonderful lady who will be missed. - Posted by: Wayne Inkster (friend) on: May 17, 2014

  • Aunty Yvette was always so nice to me as a little boy. Going to visit her and Uncle Lucien was always the highlight of my summer when we went out to cayer. She was a wonderful lady with a warm smile. My deepest sympathies to all who knew her. - Posted by: jayson lamoureux (great nephew) on: May 13, 2014
