GORDON ALEXANDER BOYD
Born: Apr 27, 1934
Date of Passing: May 13, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGORDON ALEXANDER BOYD April 27, 1934 - May 13, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was predeceased by his son John in 2009. Dad leaves to mourn his wife Shirley, two children, Laureen and Lorne (Jackie), and five grandsons, Riki, Ryan, Cole, Landon and Reese. Gord retired as a Stationmaster from VIA Rail 25 years ago. He was born and raised in Winnipeg where he married the love of his life, Shirley on September 29, 1956. In his younger days Gord loved the competition of sports. Lacrosse and Hockey were two of his favourites. In his Hockey years he played defense and loved going into the boards with anyone who would challenge him. He also loved spending time at his cabin in Grand Marais with his family. He was always ready for a good game of Horseshoes or Crib with his friends. Gord always enjoyed sitting with family and friends and having good laughs. When you sat with Gord, laughter was inevitable. His one liners and his jokes could fill any room with laughter. Anyone who was fortunate enough to sit with him knows the laughter the family will miss. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. We will love you forever. Until we meet again. The family would like to thank the ICU and all the staff at Concordia Hospital for the compassionate care given to Dad. A private family interment will be held, but the family would like to invite you to a Celebration Gathering for Gord at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium, 1800 Day St. on Friday, May 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, say a prayer for Dad and spend quality time with the people you love.
