Renald and I are saddened for your loss. Katie touched more people in her short life than most of us ever do and for that you must be so proud. We will keep her in our prayers. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. - Posted by: Bernice Paul () on: Jun 02, 2014

It was an honour and privilege to know Katie. No matter what she was going through or how she was feeling, she always had a positive outlook. She continuously put others ahead of herself. Her strong love for her family, friends, pets was apparent. Her friendship was genuine and ever-lasting. She and Kirstyn had many adventures together including: "kidney camp", sleepovers, trips to Grand Forks, and many more. One never would have thought the two together could come up with so many crazy schemes. Once we moved to Brandon, and once Kirstyn's medical trips to Winnipeg became fewer, so did the visits with Katie. But those two were always "kindred spirits" and when they did see each other, they picked up as if they were never separated. She is greatly missed. Our hearts are broken....our memories are solid and strong. - Posted by: Pat and Kirstyn Weerts (Friends Forever) on: May 27, 2014

Katie was such a free spirit. When you and Shayla would go on the zombie walks or late night driving adventures, the tales that were told after....as listening parents we always shook our heads with a smile! The orange pylon in our basement will bring fond memories and thoughts of how much you touched our lives. Katie, you will be missed. - Posted by: Susan Honer () on: May 26, 2014

I met Katie in the Pediatic Nephrology clinic when she was a young girl and was always struck by her fantastic attitude, and her beautiful smile and super cute freckles. Katie was like a ray of sunshine in clinic and was one of those patients who I was always happy was on the list to see. Katie's attitude of carrying on while not always feeling well was inspiring. A few summers ago I bumped into to Kaite and her family while camping at Rushing River and was so happy to have connected with such a great family. The world is not quite as bright without you in it Katie...tears flow as I type this from the room where I often saw you and your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. With much love and sadness. Garry Epp - Posted by: Garry Epp (Nurse Clinician in Pediatric Nephrology Children's hospital) on: May 26, 2014
