Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN HENKEWICH It is with sadness that we announce the passing of John Henkewich on May 24, 2014 at the Grace Hospital. John was born to Haifia and Metro Henkewich on January 10, 1922. He was educated in Poplar Park and eventually moved to the city of Winnipeg. However, he never really left his roots on the farm. He was a lifetime member of Saint John's Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church at Poplar Park, Manitoba. John is survived by longtime partner Beatrice (Dolly), sister Anne, brothers Steve (Diane) and Harry (Betty), numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Haifia and Metro, his brothers William, Nicholas and Michael, and his sisters Mary and Kay. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law Peter and Johnny, and sister-in-law Marion. John loved life. His laughter was infectious; his tastes were unpretentious. As a little younger man he loved dancing and hunting and to the end of his life he loved playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Thank you old friend for so many years of helping us both celebrating the joys and getting through the tears of so long a life. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd. Interment will take place at Poplar Park Cemetery following the reception at the Mosaic Reception Centre.
