Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILY BOWERS Lily peacefully passed away at Concordia Hospital on Friday, May 23, 2014. She was predeceased by her husband Alex, her children Lynn and Jeff, and her siblings Norah and George. She is survived by her daughter Louise (Dave), stepsister Carol (Glen), stepbrother Leonard (Marie), brother and sister-in-law Jack and Sylvia, daughter-in-law Trish, grandchildren Kim (Rob), Kris (Kira), Ryan (Van), Lisa (Lyle), Brenden, Megan (Renee) and Mark, and great-grandchildren Gavin, Callie, Gillian, Charlotte, Kien, Alexa, Aidan and Natalie, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was born on September 27, 1918. Shortly after serving with Dad in the Second World War they married and raised their family in Transcona. She enjoyed all sports, reading, a little gambling and spending time with family and friends. She was a hard worker for many community organizations such as Cubs, Royal Canadian Legion, East Park Lodge Tenants Association to name a few. Mom was a strong, independent woman and only recently (February 2013) realized that she could no longer live on her own and that she needed the additional supports of a personal care home. We would like to thank Mom's family members, friends, her homecare workers, Concordia Hospital staff, friends at East Park Lodge, Royal Canadian Legion visitation committees and the staff and residents of Park Manor Personal Care Home for their friendship and care of Mom. The family will miss visits with Mom, her sense of humour, wise guidance and loving support of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Abiding by her wishes, we will have a private graveside ceremony in the Field of Honour military section of Transcona Cemetery where Mom will be laid to rest beside Dad. I used to work for your father at the CN in Winnipeg, my mother was in Park Manor when your parents lived there, they where very kind to her! Growing up in Transcona both our families shared Uncle Herman. My thoughts are with you at this time. - Posted by: Bryan Shore () on: Jun 04, 2014
