STUART WURTAK
Born: Aug 29, 1946
Date of Passing: May 30, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTUART WURTAK On Friday May 30, 2014 at the age of 67, our beloved husband, dad, Poppa, Fixing Poppa, brother and friend passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, with his wife and children at his side. Stuart was born on August 29, 1946 in Surrey, England. At eight months old his family relocated to Winnipeg, MB. As a child, the majority of his time was spent in Ashern on his grandparent's farm. While in Winnipeg Stuart met the love of his life, his main squeeze, Annette and they were married in 1965. He became part owner of Dynamic Machine until 1977 when he purchased his grandfather's homestead in Ashern. He moved his wife and three children to "The Farm" and, soon after, the family was blessed with twins. Stuart raised beef cattle before opening Interlake Hydraulics in the late eighties. He continued to operate his business until ill health sadly forced him to close the doors in March 2014. Stu was a well-respected business man, always there for his customers, so much so that they told him they had a meeting and decided he could never retire. The only thing Stuart was more passionate about than his business was his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake, camping, going for ice-cream, having wiener roasts, teaching his grandchildren to fish, watching western movies and boxing. Stuart was proud of his hobby farm which the grandchildren will always have fond memories of. Stuart is survived by his loving wife Annette (nee Boucher), his children Lesley (Bob), Lark (Ron), Krystal (Dwayne) and Ken (Katie); daughter-in-law Carla; his grandchildren Cailey (Brent), Braedy, Sari (Chad), Catlin, Jacob, Jordin, Aiden, Melanie, Savanna (Jackson), Eliana, James; his great-grandchildren Carter, Callum, Camden, Preston, Lachlann, Emersyn; his siblings Wilma (Nigel), Gerry, Cliff (Rhonda), Val (Marty), George (Leslie), Kathy (Bill) along with numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Mary Wurtak, father and mother-in-law George and Alice Boucher, two year old sister Merilyn and his son Keith. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held. Extended family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Stu's life at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Ashern Centennial Hall with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. The family wishes to thank Dr.'s Emadi and Roets, the staff of the Lakeshore General Hospital including the Home Care Coordinator and dear family friend Helen Webster, and the Palliative Care Team, Vera and Crystal, for their compassionate care and support during Stu's last weeks. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Stuart to the Lakeshore General Hospital Guild, c/o Julie Bergner, PO Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0.
