Susan and I went to nursing school together and we became good friends even after graduation. My husband and I became friends with both Harry and Susan. We remember her as a very caring person and fun loving. We thank God for the years that we got to know her and the privilege of her friendship. Rest in peace, Susan. - Posted by: Liz Ner (friend and colleague) on: Apr 07, 2015

I admired Susan for her courage and strength. She was the nurse that helped me with my diagnosis of Breast Cancer. Thanks to Susan's encouragement and strength I went through my surgery and treatment knowing that she was there to help me if I had any questions or problems. She made going through this in a remote Northern community seem not so scary. She was the sweetest of people with always an encouraging word. My thoughts and prayers go out to Susan's family. .... I first met Susan on the bus on her first day of work at The International Inn. I knew there was a new girl starting and i saw her get off the bus and just introduced myself. We were friends from then on and remained friends for over 30 years. Susan was kind caring person and was full of fun. I will miss her dearly. Rest easy Susan and watch over all of us left behind. I will never forget you. - Posted by: Barbara Alexander (Longtime friend) on: Jun 06, 2014

Northern nursing is special because of nurses like Susan who make it so - she came, she cared, she gave and she learned from the people she served. Will always remember her diligence to doing a job well, her smile and how wonderful she always looked - made you feel special seeing her. - Posted by: shirley hiebert (northern nurse colleague) on: Jun 06, 2014

When my daughter was 9 months old she contracted what we later discovered was meningitis. When I took baby to the nursing station one evening Susan could see that something wasn't quite right. While baby seemed fine she had this far away stare, like she was lost. A silent seizure it turned out. This was followed by a lot of "twitching". Again those also turned out to be seizures. Throughout this lengthy ordeal, while we waiting for a medi-vac to Winnipeg, Susan and the others there made sure that baby had oxygen. Baby arrived clinically dead but was revived and went on to recover fully. Thanks to the continuous supply of oxygen, baby came through with no apparent signs of brain damage. "Baby" is now 24. Thank you Susan Cook. - Posted by: Sharon M (Mother of one of Susan'a young patients) on: Jun 04, 2014
