GLEN MARTIN MORRIS July 9, 1963 - June 1, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Glen Martin Morris on June 1, 2014. Glen grew up in North Springfield and as a boy convinced his father to build a community rink and coach a local team. This was the start of playing goalie for multiple hockey teams over the years, as attested to by his mother and chief chauffeur. He loved playing hockey while his dad coached, but even better was playing hockey with his dad and brother on the BA Construction team for several seasons. Glen enjoyed working with his hands and in recent years single-handedly renovated "This Old House" and had taken an interest in etching glass. His favourite hobby was scouring Kijiji, seeking out the best deals for his latest project. He had volunteered his time to Habitat for Humanity building homes and had been looking forward to participating in this year's build. Glen was burdened with many health challenges over the years but worked diligently to overcome them. On his best days, he was a charming storyteller with a good sense of humour and known for his generosity. He was sentimental to a fault and had recently moved into the family home he had grown up in, surrounded by memories of those who had passed before him. Glen loved animals, especially dogs, and took joy in watching the antics of his best friends, Keeks and Kato. Glen will be lovingly remembered by his mother Jean, sister Shelley (John MacLise), nephew Eric, and brother Rob. Glen was predeceased by his father Bob Morris in 2007. Private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice. Rest in peace Glen. • Time speeds on, 45 years have passed since we met in Elementary school. We were care free kids running around the playground at recess. Then we became teenagers and left the "portables" and moved on to Junior High. You could always be seen hanging out around the gym doors or at the sock-hops with all your friends. Junior High was good times. Then we really grew up and moved on to High School. We were the graduating class of '81. Then we all went our separate ways (graduation does that). Some of us got jobs, some went to college, some of us moved away. Now, days of sadness are upon us. I can't write, speak the words or write the sentences that say how sad we are that you are gone. We may forget many things over the years but I will never forget you. Forever a classmate of '81. - Posted by: C.K. (Friend) on: Jun 21, 2014

  • Glen and I became friends in Grade 1. Glen was a loyal friend who always had your back; a friend for life. We grew up together in North Springfield and spent many hours playing hockey at the rink Glen's Dad Bob built for the community. We simply called the rink "NS". I can still picture us putting wood in the stove and shoveling the rink to play "3 and in" Our group of friends were always together. We spent numerous weekends at Grand Beach and stayed at Glen's grandfather's cabin which produced wonderful memories. Mrs. Morris, Shelley & Rob my deepest condolences for your loss. • I met Glen when our family moved out to the country when i was ten years old, we became instant friends. Driving the old army jeep in the pits, exploring the treasures at grandfathers house or just hanging out, it truly was the best of times. As we got older our group of friends were many, we were together all the time, with Glen firmly situated in the middle. The bonds that were made many years ago remained unbreakable. Till we meet again my friend. Mrs Morris, Shelly, Rob and family, please accept my sincere condolences, my heart goes out to you all. • I have known Glen and the Morris clan for over 30 years and Glen had many qualities I admired. Working with Glen on various projects around the ol' house, I saw first hand how he would take on projects and bring them to completion. In our yard I have an etched rock that Glen made, and every time I walk out our back door I see it and think of Glen. My thoughts are with Jean, Rob, Shelley, John and Eric. Rest in peace Glen. - Posted by: Rod Kozak (Friend) on: Jun 07, 2014
