DOROTHY (NAN) GUDMUNDSON August 23, 1926 - June 5, 2014 It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of wife, mother and Nan at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, MB at the age of 87 years, with family at her side. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her husband Les and her daughters Brenda (Bruce) and Darlene (Wayne); her grandchildren Derrick (Olivia), Jim (Tara), Robert (Wendy), Colleen (Neal), Clayton (Jessica), Dennis (Catherine), Les (Erin) and Clifford (Deanna); 17 great-grandchildren whom she was so very proud of; brothers Tiny and Bernard and sisters Evelyn and Ilene along with many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband of 42 years Barber Reykdal, parents Frank and Minnie Lamoureux, son Lloyd and granddaughter Adele and brother Leonard. Dorothy was born in Oak Point, MB. She later met and married her first husband Barber and together raised their three children on the farm in Clarkleigh. Mom was a very hard worker, not only on their farm but also at East Meadows for over 20 years. She held many other jobs to help care for their family. She was a founding member of the Clarkleigh Friendship Club for over 50 years, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185, Lundar Curling Club, Lundar Personal Care Home Guild and the Catholic Church. She loved to live life to its fullest. She was always smiling. After the passing of Barber, Dorothy and Les married in 1987 and they spent the next few years farming in Mary Hill. When they retired from farming they spent time traveling and enjoyed a few winters in Arizona. Dorothy loved to dance, listen to old time music, gardening, canning, playing Bingo and curling and enjoyed her monthly bus trips to the casino. Camping and fishing were one of her favourite things to do. Her fingers were never idle, she was always knitting and making dishcloths. She loved to watch her great- grandchildren playing sports and would often be heard cheering them on. Dorothy loved to be out and about and you would rarely find her at home. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Lundar Legion Hall with Father Michel Nault officiating. Interment to be held in the Lundar Municipal Cemetery with a lunch to follow in the Legion Hall. Urn bearer will be her grandson Jim. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the home care workers, because of them she was able to stay at home. Also to Dr. Burnet and the staff at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lundar Personal Care Home Guild, c/o Judy Gleich, PO Box 60, Lundar, MB R0C 1Y0 or to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
