MARIE EMILIENNE (GEORGETTE) PROCTOR (nee SAVARD) September 26, 1930 - June 5, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Georgette Proctor, on June 5, 2014. Mom was born in Chicoutimi, Quebec. She and dad were married in 1952, a few years later they moved to Woodlands where they lived and raised their family. She is survived by her three children - Mareta (Glen), David (Anita) and Claudette; grandchildren Evan (Melissa), Jarrod, Kelita (Sydney), Michael (Layce); great-grandson Eli, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George; parents George and Emilia Savard; in-laws Walter and Madeline Proctor, and her 12 siblings. Her greatest joy was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson. Mom led a very busy and fulfilling life. She was one of the founding members of the Catholic Women's League in Woodlands; this group was instrumental in getting the Church of the Annunciation built. Mom was always eager to lend a helping hand wherever needed. Many happy years were spent at the family cottage at Twin Beach, where her warm hospitality shone. Mom was gifted in so many ways. Her talents included sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening and canning. She was an avid bingo player and loved playing cards. Mom was hard working, fun loving, and an inspiration to all of us. She was a loving mother and will be greatly missed, but forever in our hearts. A sincere thank you to the staff at Health Sciences Centre for the wonderful care given to Mom. A funeral mass will be held at the Church of the Annunciation in Woodlands on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted by the Church of the Annunciation, P.O. Box 103, Woodlands, Manitoba R0C 3H0. MACKENZIE FUNERAL HOME STONEWALL 204-467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • It is with sadness that I learned about aunt Georgette. I haven't seen her often and was lucky enough to be in Winnipeg twice in the last 10 years where I spend some time with her, my related cousins, Nicole & Bob and David children. I will remember aunt Georgette as a caring person with great sens of humour and with warm hospitality. Mareta, David and Claudette, I wish you find comfort among each other and your family. The loss of a mother is a very difficult moment. Hope to see you again someday. You will always be welcome if you ever come to Montreal. Your cousin from east.....
